You might enjoy this link to the old Arena board, right before the Big Change to the new boards. Iron Chef Chen Kenichi and Challenger Samwise Gamgee? Gandalf vs. Yoda? Fellowship of the Monocle? What was going on back there? Here are a few old arena links that were collected by NEB: links and a few collected by AE: links

If Sil doesn't win this one, I for one am going to be extremely disappointed. I know who's fairest of them all.

Aunt Dora vs. Magpie in a folk dance competition
[In reply to]

They share a birthday, physical appearance, approximate age, and a love of folk dance (Eastern European for ADB, British Isles for Magpie.) What happens when we put them on the same dance floor together? Aunt Dora enters backwards doing Guiševska Rečenica. Magpie counters with Mairie's Wedding. Aunt Dora gets tangled in a Reel of Three and becomes totally befuddled.

They share a birthday, physical appearance, approximate age, and a love of folk dance (Eastern European for ADB, British Isles for Magpie.) What happens when we put them on the same dance floor together? True all that except for physical appearance. I suspect we're very similar in how we dress. But I've seen pictures of you AD, you're much more fit and slim than I am! oh dear... I never come in here and only did today to see what this room was doing in the party. I have no clue how to 'play' this game. I certainly can't be witty and play! You have a jump on me because International Dancers do a smattering of British Isles but I have very little experience with International. okay... here's my amateur attempt: Aunt Dora leads a line of dancers doing the Romanian dance, Opinca.
Meanwhile, from the other side of town, Magpie leads her Abbots Bromley Horn Dance team down the street. The two teams become entangled as they each begin the parts where dancers dance toward each other.
Six International dancers are knocked over by dancers carrying 1,000 year old reindeer antlers.
One is shot by Robin Hood:
Another is trampled by the hobby horse:
And the last, Aunt Dora herself, is felled by a knock on the head with the jester's pig bladder:
Maid Marian takes donations from the crowd:
And the troupe dances off down the street to find the pub.
Ignore the fact that Abbots Bromley is danced traditionally (in the village of Abbots Bromley) only with males and Magpie is a female. I have danced this dance. I was the fool/jester but I played triangle rather than carrying a pig bladder.

I never come in here either; I was tapped for this because of a little altercation I somehow got embroiled in a few weeks ago. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen in the arena! Thanks. I'll remember to look out for those pig bladders in the future! :-DDDD

Well, i will submit my vote here. I vote for Barbie. Yup, there's no butts about it:).
''What connects Nature to the spiritual, or requires the presence of the latter? In positive terms, as Alkis Kontos points out, when nature was still largely experienced as integral, alive and active, 'It was the spiritual dimension of the world, its enchanted, magical quality that rendered it infinite, not amenable to complete calculability; spirit could not be quanified; it permitted and invited mythologization.' And I would add, it still is and does.'' Patrick Curry-Defending Middle-Earth-Tolkien: Myth and Modernity - chapter: 'The Sea: Spirituality and Ethics.' May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings! In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

Man of Rohan. I haven't seen him at all on the new boards and that's too bad. He was really good at coming up with ridiculously complicated, but hilarious battles that really engaged the participants. That Finder of Lost Posts, NEB, was kind enough to find these battles for me. Enjoy!

but Stumpy and Ugly Troll used to have bar fights during Fiesta. Oh, I should probably mention that they were the same guy. ;o) I think something similar went on once with Soothfast and Sauron_the_Maia.

Uh-oh, you'll have to make that a three-way battle before too long...NEB is only 46 posts away from morphing into Half-Elven! But to even come close to gramma in immortality? Not a snowball's chance in Mordor! There can be only One...and by the time any of the rest of us reach that milestone, she'll be long at the next level! Maia? Vala? Eärendil?
