Finally getting a chance to fully enjoy this! Hey - wasn't that "Yankee Doodle" that the Bromley dancers were dancing to? Fun - but I wouldn't want to get near those antlers!

I love yous all. And just for that you get to come up this weekend and sample the pristine waters(60 degrees) of Green Pond right off the diving board (which get even MORE exciting the deeper you go). No worries, there will be a roaring fire and hot steaming turkey off the bone:)...
''What connects Nature to the spiritual, or requires the presence of the latter? In positive terms, as Alkis Kontos points out, when nature was still largely experienced as integral, alive and active, 'It was the spiritual dimension of the world, its enchanted, magical quality that rendered it infinite, not amenable to complete calculability; spirit could not be quanified; it permitted and invited mythologization.' And I would add, it still is and does.'' Patrick Curry-Defending Middle-Earth-Tolkien: Myth and Modernity - chapter: 'The Sea: Spirituality and Ethics.' May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings! In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

I am one of the few people who have braved the pool here at the Ranch. The rest complain that 71 degrees farenheit is too cold to swim in!

of how cold water feels is dependent on air temperature! Put that pool here in New England, and folks would think they were in a hot tub!

me, you, caleby, MOR, sparki, AE (female) WA, King of Easterlings, FF5, Gum...just to name a few. Those were the days. Good times. However the funniest Arena battle ever was Who was more greedy, Daffy Duck or the Dwarves?

I emailed MOR a few years back when he dropped off the boards, but sadly received no reply. He was A Nice Guy.

Fistfight? Pie eating? Battle of Wits? Laundry folding? Legend has it that squire has *at least* one alter ego which, if unleashed, could do some serious damage... Get your laundry ready!

Curious and Squire must duel at pie-eating, with fisticuffs and barbed wit as permissible means to slow the other eater down. They then must launder, dry, iron, and fold the tablecloths and napkins that they soiled in the process, as well as their own clothing (spectators unused to the sight of nudity must avert their eyes) which will include battling each other for access to the washing-machine, clothesline, iron, ironing-board, and laundry-baskets. Fair enough?

I'm sure I'll set the stains and fold the tableclothes and napkins slowly and badly. And fisticuffs and barbed wit! I am in trouble.

I have an unlucky friend who found old college pictures of her dad when his fraternity pranked him into running across campus naked. I hope the experience never becomes shared between us. Moving on! I have absolutely zero experience of Curious beyond what I've seen of him in the Reading Room; if squire is a champion pie-eater or fistfighter, I've no knowledge of it, and clearly some secrets were kept during my childhood. If you boil down "barbed wit" to mean "sarcastic and rhetorical quips" I believe squire has at least a modicum of talent in that area, although as mentioned I'm not too familiar with Curious--I make a tentative guess that the two might be equally matched if they really set their minds to it. But combining Curious' statement above that he is horrible at laundry with my own knowledge base, I would say squire wins in that department. Hands-down.Someone else has to ref it, though, because I hold a firm bias.

And suddenly the Ainur saw afar off a light, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame.
