10th anniversary Tolkien inspired poetry... I guess. Can't Post

A lot of people are doing something special for this anniversary celebration, it would seem. I thought I might as well share my Tolkien inspired poetry.

Most of these take place in Numenor, by the way. ;)

In a forest fraught with flowers,
Upon an island, from a tree,
A butterfly whom flight empowers,
Did flutter by to sight the sea.

From the fertile forest flowers,
The butterfly could better flee,
T'ward the soaring sea-foam showers,
When twilight trilled its symphony.

It started o'er a fiery glade,
Consumed by hues of red-gold light,
With sylvan sunset's serenade:
Notes heralding the nearing night.

Ensuing flowed triumphant chords,
Of waves’ assault upon the land,
While sunlight fell beneath their swords,
As water sinks into the sand.

With death of day came twilight’s call:
A requiem of silver shade,
The rising of the white moon’s thrall,
Which splits the sea as mirrored blade.

The voices of the streaming wind,
Entrancing all of shadows’ throng,
With leaves in dances nimbly pinned,
To argent stars and ardent song.

A silver throng of latent song,
Where ballads fall from trees,
And dance upon the ariose dawn,
Cascading their reprise,

I look beyond the sea of glass,
Where dreams are wont to stray,
And sit in thought, upon the grass,
Of places far away,

Of Flame and Shadow deftly vied,
Denied his baneful throne,
Of ancient dragon’s noble stride,
In halls beneath the stone,

The rising of a subtle fire,
In fey celestial gleam,
A melody upon a lyre,
I heard it in a dream.

I stood upon a Westward shore
Of dawn’s aurelian sea:
Descried the sun to heaven soar,
When Silence beckoned me.

I saw her dancing under moon,
As sonance she allayed,
Her garment was with lilies strewn,
In silver light arrayed.

I watched in awe as she dispelled
The voices of the day,
The wind and gulls and ocean quelled,
Amid her dance’s sway.

When all was silent as a void,
And I in noiseless peace,
I sought to ask of what employed
Could cause a sound to cease.

“Oh Silence, dost thou weave thy web?
Wherefore the absent sound?”
But once my voice her lull did ebb,
She could no more be found.

They don't have a lot to do with Middle-Earth, but none of them would have existed if not for Tolkien. Tongue

I've only been with TORN for a little more than half a year, but happy 10th anniversary! :D

A little apart the Rangers sat, silent, in an ordered company, armed with spear and bow and sword. They were clad in cloaks of dark grey, and their hoods were cast now over helm and head....There was no gleam of stone or gold, nor any fair thing in all their gear and harness: nor did their riders bear any badge or token, save only that each cloak was pinned upon the left shoulder by a brooch of silver shaped like a rayed star.
