Luthien Can't Post

Haven't done a Tolkien piece in a while, but I just finished this one last weekend. Entered cliche-Tolkien-artist land with a Luthien dancing piece.

Click here to see the larger version of it, as well as all the reference credits.

Original 14x17 inches (35.6x43.2 cm- little sketchbook has useful conversion right on the cover). Pencil, as usual. But I'm doing an inkwash piece right now, so I'm slowly getting out of the pencil... :P

Speaking of Tolkien artists, will there ever be a revival of TORn's Rozolo Tolkien artist registery? It hasn't been updated in goodness knows how long.

Cheers!

I've asked this question just last month. There seems to be very little interest in the arts here on Tor.n any longer. Unsure

I enjoy art inspired by Tolkien and have friends who are very active in the scene. It gives me pleasure to see those occasional posts here too. Heart

I know, it's quite distressing. [In reply to] Can't Post

Thankfully I do help moderate a Tolkien community on deviantart.com, and the gallery there is large and growing constantly. Even if TORn members are shy here, there is still interest in Tolkien art in other communities :P

I'll continue to post here every so often though, even if it's slightly- well, terribly- barren compared to other boards XD

May I ask... [In reply to] Can't Post

where I can find this community on deviantart?

I don't spend a great deal of time on there, but would love to check it out!

I am not the founder, but I have been a moderator of the group for a good couple of years now, and like to spam the address about everywhere I go :)

... I need to add it to my signature. *nod*

The art ranges from book to film, from beginners to highly advanced, from traditional to digital to artisan crafts to literature. It's a great little comm.

Adding it to your sig is a good idea [In reply to] Can't Post

I know I often randomly check out the links in people's signature, it'd be a good way to advertise it!

To be honest I have neglected deviantart of late. I set up a new account last year after being absent for a long while, and I've not put half as much effort into it has I should. Hmmm. I must fix that.

Looking forward to checking the Tolkien stuff out!! Smile

I was under the impression [In reply to] Can't Post

it was a no-no advertising another Tolkien site on the forums. I guess I read it in the rules or some such place. The community I am an administrator at has some very talented artists too. A good friend has been in several of the Tolkien Societies publications. I'm very proud of her. Smile

*sigh* [In reply to] Can't Post

You are right- advertising is a no-no, excepting your own website/homepage. I haven't read the rules in ages. Thanks for the head's up.

Very pretty. I like how you managed the shaft of light. // [In reply to] Can't Post

A little apart the Rangers sat, silent, in an ordered company, armed with spear and bow and sword. They were clad in cloaks of dark grey, and their hoods were cast now over helm and head....There was no gleam of stone or gold, nor any fair thing in all their gear and harness: nor did their riders bear any badge or token, save only that each cloak was pinned upon the left shoulder by a brooch of silver shaped like a rayed star.
