OMG: 477 new posts in the Reading Room? Can't Post

Several questions:

1) How did you DO it?

2) WHY did you do it?

3: What do WE do with it?

Cool

It was a lot of fun to get all excited on seeing the number of new posts in the RR. I thought some troll had visited or a major new book had been published, or something. But no, it was NEB up in the middle of the night apparently bent on getting us to look at old posts--or some other intention. Or maybe he just had too much coffee before bed last night. But whatever the intent, it was cool.

Wow, that's all I have to say.

Now, for anyone wondering how to find all the new posts scattered back through the ages, open the RR and then go over to the right side of the page and if the words under the down-arrow icon say Age (creation) click on the link under "creation" and it will switch to "acitvity", and then you will see what the newest responses are in the older posts.

I have a lot of reading to do!

And a few of us [In reply to] Can't Post

have been doing a lot of reading! And responding as well. Aren't these new boards amazing!

NEB must now hold the record for longest time continuously posting in the RR - and longest time going without sleep! Laugh

And thank you for thinking about making sure everyone knew about the "creation/activity" switch.

So, how do we find them all? [In reply to] Can't Post

Short of paging through 70+ pages looking for entries dated "Sat".

By 'activity', it was 12 or 14 consecutive pages of new responses. // [In reply to] Can't Post

the only way I know is to "sort" by "activity" [In reply to] Can't Post

As I noted in my post. On the far side of the open forum window (the window that opens when you click on "Reading Room" in the main directory) there is a little down arrow that sorts the posts "in order". I believe the default setting is "age (creation)" which means that the newest post is always on top.

But if you choose to sort by "age (activity)" you get posts sorted by the latest activity in that thread.

To change the choice just click on the word "creation" (conversely, to return to default just click on the word "activity").

If you sort by "age (activity)" you will see the posts going back several pages, but the ones he posted most recently OR the ones that someone has most recently replied to, will be "on top" of the others. The ones with the most recent activity, in other words, will be on top.

Hope that was clear.

Also, if there's a better way, I hope someone will mention it here!

Hate to miss any NEB posts.

Ah, but that's because [In reply to] Can't Post

he wanted to make sure he said "thank you" to everyone; and he'd already said that to you! Wink

So, how come you got a "thank-you" before the rest of us, eh? Angelic

Another way [In reply to] Can't Post

is to go into the sibs profile and click on "show users posts" Then you can look through their most recent posts.

PL and I had a look last night when we saw NEB was popping up as last poster in the RR several times, there were around 15 pages of new posts under his nick LOL.

I had to go to bed so didn't get to read too many of them, still don't know how he managed them all.

No mere mortal could possibly have posted in so many threads in one night. And many of the posts were substantive, not just 'thank you's." It boggles the mind.

Even though he should posted in your threads. Tongue

Although after looking through 17 pages of posts by NEB, I tell you I'm not going back to look!

But even the extraordinary human must sleep sometimes. Maybe he's planning to hit all 70 old pages...the mind boggles.

I noticed that this morning. [In reply to] Can't Post

I get e-mails when someone replies to my posts, and there were a few from NEB, and I checked and he was replying to things I'd said in February. So then I looked at the list of his posts:

It was a nice reminder to me [In reply to] Can't Post

that I used to spend a lot of time here. Like Aunt Dora, I get emails when someone responds to me. I was a little suprised because I don't remember the last time I posted in here. A nice little poke to get me back in. So for that, I'm grateful. Maybe I'll even come in more often.
