Gramma and JRandomRohirimm... [In reply to] Can't Post

HeartHeartHeart

My aim was bad, too. But we're losing our edge--we've only got a little over 55% of the vote now. Get on over there and voice your choice.

(smiles, Ben Hur was good, too.)

Can you only vote once? [In reply to] Can't Post

I admit to voting 5 times, before I began to wonder if the additional ones were registering.

The Titanic folks are voting and trying to stem the tide. It will not avail themSly

Hey, now that's not fair JRandomRohirrim! [In reply to] Can't Post

The only problem the Captain of the Titanic made was that the Titanic was his last voyage before retirement. His mistake was that he let his guard down as such an experienced Captain; and he wasn't actually helming the ship anyway!

And if you want to talk semantics, it was actually the fault of the Titanic itself.. The ship was so massive, nobody had any experience piloting a ship of her size! The 3-propellers were grossly under-sized for her needs, and thus she could not turn fast enough.

Yes I liked the movie Titanic, no I did not like it for the reasons everybody else did..... Heh, I need help. Crazy

I don't know... [In reply to] Can't Post

Not enough binoculars
Not enough lifeboats
No moon
The unwise decision to turn instead of hitting it head-on
The nearby boats didn't have their telegraphs on

a combination of many bad things.

But the movie itself sank to me. I thought about giving Ben Hur a little help. But then I said--no. Heart

You sound like you do know, Patty! [In reply to] Can't Post

I always found it interesting that there were so many events that conspired against the Titanic; especially the missing binoculars.

There's another thing worth mentioning, and that is the fact that the steel used in the construction of the Titanic could have possibly been a lesser grade than was desired or acceptable for a ship like her. A cost cutting measure that might have been partly to blame for the ship sinking as it did.

My feeling is that the movie Titanic did an excellent job of re-creating the feel of the ship from an historical perspective, while also weaving an interesting drama, albiet sometimes cheesy.

Yeah, gotta admit I found it pretty cheesy.. [In reply to] Can't Post

and I'm so not a Di Caprio fan. His acting in Gilbert Grape and The Man in the Iron Mask was good, but Titanic?-- not so much.
