I noted the Michael Hague Interview, and was reminded of how much I loved Can't Post

much of his take on the work. His Smaug was good, and I loved his work on Gandalf, as well as his cozy fireside scene of the dwarves in Bag End. It doesn't have the brilliantine photorealism of Howe, but it is full of a cozy enchantment.

"Hear me, hounds of Sauron, Gandalf is here! Fly if you value your foul skins, I will shrivel you from tail to snout if you step within this circle!"

"Do not be to eager to deal out death in judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends."

I agree, they have a lovely warmth to them ... [In reply to] Can't Post

and yes, they are cosy and I really did like his one of the dwarves playing their instruments in Bag End - that is one of my favourites! and the Dwarves battling the spiders in Mirkwood. Pirate Smile

Yeah. Those are actually some nasty looking spiders. I appreciate far [In reply to] Can't Post

more than I like that spider one. lol. But I really felt that many of his paintings excelled at evoking wonder. I would love to see him do a little work on some aspects of the film. I really loved his depiction of Gandalf, staff ablaze with lightning, being whisked away by Gwahir. And the Procession of the Wizard and hobbit leaving Mirkwood with the Elven host. And yes, the hearthside scene is an exceptional winner.
