Leonard Nimoy Lyrics Challenge.. Can't Post

What’s a party without some music? How about a big round of applause for Leonard Nimoy singing “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” -- with special guest star, Bilbo!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OfUQSXMNXf4

Here are the lyrics to the chorus:

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
He's only three feet tall
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
The bravest little hobbit of them all

In preparation for the upcoming Hobbit movie, it seems only right that we try to come up with some new lyrics to this tune to sing on festive occasions like this. Here's my attempt...

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
This song will make you groan
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
About to get a movie of his own…

Whether or not you ever were, wanted to date or be a hippie chick -- give it your best shot!

If you want to tackle a verse instead of the chorus, here’s a link to all the lyrics:

Have fun, everyone!

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
Directed by del Toro.
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
While Jackson rests on his laurel.

Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
He's actually six feet high.
Bilbo! Bilbo! Bilbo Baggins
Thank goodness for cgi!

******************************************
The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

Incidentally, we in the FAA are immortalizing him this week. [In reply to] Can't Post

When the specialist developing this new approach procedure (PDF) to Boston needed a new name for a certain point in space on the procedure, he asked us (Boston approach control) if we had any objections to calling it NIMOY, since he's from here. My answer: "That would be... logical." So starting Thursday, you can't land towards the northwest at BOS without going by NIMOY.

** Mods up** -- Encore! Encore! [In reply to] Can't Post

You know, if you have a spare pair of pointed ears and some hippie chicks around, you could do a great remake of the Nimoy video with these lyrics.

I love the final verses especially -- starting with "where is your silverware?"

"Immersed in Elven-Lore -- they think your song's a bore!" -- ha!

Some great riffs on TORn and New Line too..

I don't know what you were drinking/smoking but I bow to your inspiration.

Well done!

You know, this was kind of like a TORn Idol competition...

It's a good thing Mr. Nimoy didn't enter along with you as he would be the first one cut!

Thanks for playing!

I was driving home from work; and as my cells tend to short-circuit the whole brain if they are idle, and I had a family who wouldn't appreciate my falling asleep on the wheel - I tried to make up the first nineteen verses as a challange. (BTW, don't you think they could have made a good quiz in themselves?)
The rest followed when I was waiting to take my son from a judo class.
Last night I sat next to the computer, and wondered if I remember enough of that drabble to write down and post; and I actually did!Tongue

ah, you are a car poet! [In reply to] Can't Post

Glad to help keep you awake at the wheel...and it's amazing what you can accomplish while waiting to pick up or take kids to different places -- that's when I do some of my best work -- it's sort of like "time change", as in if you could put it in a jar, like people do with all their left over coins, it adds up to a lot!

And yes your responses would make a good quiz. You should think about repackaging them for next year's birthday bash here, or some other festive occasion on TORn...
