The Secret Life of Ralph Bakshi's Aragorn Can't Post

Bakshi's Aragorn. Anton Chigurh. Coincidence? I think not.

All the way through 'No country', I KNEW he reminded me of someone!! [In reply to] Can't Post

But thank goodness he didn't wear a little skirt. That character was disturbing enough without a mini skirt and knee high boots! Laugh

Brilliant Blu Falcon - well spotted! Wow, what a dark stranger the Bakshi Aragorn turned out to be!!

Um...no relation to Lwaxana Troi, are you...? Angelic

So: are you a book-firster, or movie-firster?

And welcome to TORn!

Blu Falcon, this is the kind of stuff I love!! This is hilarious!!! Keep it coming! Especially after listening to Javier Bardem laughingly complain about his "worst hair-do ever on his head" at the Academy Awards last year - this is just the icing on the cake!LaughSlyHeart

Oh, great. [In reply to] Can't Post

Now I'm picturing the following scene:

Frodo wakes to find Aragorn sitting by the fire humming to himself.
"What is that song you are humming, Strider?"
"It is the Lay of Luthien. Wait, I will play it to you on my pennywhistle!"

Silverlode

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

to TORN! I've been here a couple of months now. It's been very enjoyable talking about Tolkien with people who know what they're talking about and love the books and films as much as I do!

What exactly was Bakski's Aragorn?? It looks terrible whatever it is! Is it anything to do with those other terrible cartoons made in the 70's or 80's? I stumbled on them on youtube once and was foaming at the mouth so much I nearly passed out!! CrazyLaugh Thranduil looked like a damn frog!

Brian Blessed for Thorin!

Yes [In reply to] Can't Post

That's what is meant with book firster or movie firster - what did you encounter first. Not that it matters much, but it is always interesting to compare first experiences of the story and if they change with the medium.

I assume you mean the Rankin/Bass Hobbit cartoon, which I've never watched (although I see it is indeed up on YouTube, as is they're ROTK-may check 'em out). Don't recall seeing their representation of Thranduil but I've seen pictures of Gollum-never mind looking like a frog-Gollum pratically is one!

BTW, your sig, Rosie-Blessed would indeed make a good Thorin, but he's also a possible Beorn (better than David Prowse I guess, ahem!)!
