Guillermo Del Toro On "The Hobbit" Can't Post

A new interview with GDT has a video and text about his upcoming task with "The Hobbit". He says:

"I am very excited, very nervous. It is very daunting. I think it is a responsibility. It is like being handed the keys to the nuclear button."

In relations to working with PJ, he noted:

"I always try to work closely with the producer. I try to have limits creatively so I can define my sandbox"

The task is now at hand .. [In reply to] Can't Post

... you know when something you have been talking about for a long suddenly is standing right in front of you and suddenly its all very real?
I wonder if thats what the Hobbit must feel like right now - those initial stages of preparation with a big dose of reality ... Smile
I just hope the whole process is an anjoyable one - Smile

Big Job [In reply to] Can't Post

It is hard to imagine what it would be like to be handed this responsibility. It isn't just about fan response. The Hobbit / LOTR is a cultural phenomenon. Assuming the very public responsibility for the next major addition to this historical process would probably feel awesome. You would need supreme confidence in your abilities to take on such a load.
It must be reassuring to be working closely with the team that carried the load through the greater part of the journey. But it must also be scary to try to live up to their success.
