Why didn't Tolkien bring more of eagles in? Can't Post

I've alaways wondered why Tolkien never used the eagles more.

He called them a "dangerous machine". [In reply to] Can't Post

He knew that using them too much would weaken his plot. But please read this discussion underway just a few threads down the board.

I've always thought of the Eagles being the last line of defense . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

They're always the ones that at the last possible moment, when all hope seems lost, they fly in and save the day. It has happened a number of times (twice in The Hobbit, and twice in LOTR).

"WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN"

Did you ever wish certain moments from LOTR could've made it to the screen? Have you ever imagined what would have happened if all of the original writings from the script actually made it to the films? Well, "What Could Have Been" is the right discussion for you! Starting this summer will be a series of topics about what could have been in "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy". Be on the lookout, and be sure to join in on the fun!
