(Formerly Lossefalme3, just in case you're wondering)*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Aragorn threw back his cloak. The elven-sheath glittered as he grasped it, and the bright blade of Andúril shone like a sudden flame as he swept it out. 'Elendil!' he cried. 'I am Aragorn son of Arathorn, and am called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dúnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor. Here is the Sword that was Broken and is forged again! Will you aid me or thwart me? Choose swiftly!' TTT, Book III, Chapter 2 And Éomer answered: 'Since the day when you rose before me out of the green grass of the downs I have loved you, and that love shall not fail.' RotK, Book VI, Chapter 5

"The hero of the story is a 2 year old rescue dog named Gandalf" That was the first thing I heard on TV this morning. The stupid, stupid 12 year old Boy Scout who wandered away from his troop (because he was homesick and had too many times read an adventure book about a boy who survived in the wilderness alone) and was lost for four days was found by an accountant (during tax season!) and her rescue dog, Gandalf. A well-named dog indeed. "They do a great job in the Scouts of educating the kids of what to beware of and tips," the kid's father was quoted as saying. Apparently neither the Scouts nor the parents had gotten around to teaching the little twit that separating oneself from the group in the wilds on purpose is dumb, and hitch-hiking is dumber.
'I cannot read the furry letters,' said Frodo in a quavering voice. 'No,' said Gandalf, 'but I can.' 'One Ring to drool on them all, One Ring to heed them One Ring to bring them all and remind them all to feed them In the land of Kitchen where the litter lies.' I saw that story in the paper this morning and meant to post it here, but it figures that several other people would have seen it too. Gandalf saves the day! Aerlinn, I've been meaning to tell you that your new footer is delightful. Are those your kittens? What a great "ringspell"! Also, *psst* I sent you a PM a few days ago. Just wondered if you'd seen it. It's an abject apology, if that helps any.

Oh, wait, this is L. Ron. There's an automatic mod up on his posts, isn't there? ;-)

Well, that's what my son said when he saw this picture. (Sorry, I tried to resize it but couldn't figure it out, so it's huge.) My Gandalf is a German Shepherd mix, probably 1/4 something else like Australian Shepherd, and is almost 11 years old. We've had him since he was born. But he's never rescued anyone.
