I'm happier making music than being a Hollywood star, says Billy Boyd Can't Post

THE Lord of the Rings trilogy made Billy Boyd a worldwide star and he could have had his pick of Hollywood films and television.
Instead, the 39-year-old Glaswegian, who played Pippin in Peter Jackson's fantasy trilogy, returned home refusing to play the Tinseltown game.
He's made some great small budget Scots films such as The Flying Scotsman and On A Clear Day, and other big-budget movies such as Master and Commander.
And he's followed his other love - music - by forming Beecake, who next week will go into the studio to make their debut album.

Do love Billy Boyd, he's just so down-to-earth and he's got one of the cheekiest smiles I've ever seen.

Cheers All

They're making an album! FANTASTIC!!! OMG! That's GREAT! I hope Dom and he are also putting the finishing touches on their screenplay they've been working on for the past... oh... 4ish years!? Last I heard, they were seriously working on it a couple of months ago.

Thanks for this, Kelvarhin! GREAT GREAT NEWS! *still smiling*

Billy will be 40 [In reply to] Can't Post

next month, so he already is getting older . . . but handling it well . . .

Maybe it's having a young son or playing an ageless Hobbit, but Billy still looks young and it's hard to believe he'll be 40 next month.
He laughed: "I think I'll try to go surfing for my 40th birthday.
"Is that a mid-life crisis? I don't think I'll have any problems, I hope."

Ah, Billy, the body begins to really change in your 40's though.

" . . . (we are ) too engrossed in thinking of everything as a preparation or training or making one fit -- for what? At any minute it is what we are and are doing, not what we plan to be and do that counts."

J.R.R. Tolkien in his 6 October 1940 letter to his son Michael Tolkien.

Come on AJ [In reply to] Can't Post

being 40 ain't that bad, at least I've never found it to be *grins*. Mr Kel didn't become a father until he turned 40 too and I don't think he's too bad now he's about to turn 50.
