Considering we have all been pushed down to newbie status, this is an appropriate time to ask a newbie question...
What IS "glug"? What is the history behind the art of glugging? It was around before I came aboard, and I never really thought to ask XD

how long the 'art' of glugging was around on TORn but I know it was around when I first happened upon the boards late 2001. Seems folks kept coming to boards and asking the same questions over and over again or making the same posts (about news and such) over and over again.
"Who played Aragorn first?"
"When is the <insert movie name here> DVD coming out?"
And so on and so forth. So the 'art' of glugging happened. Just a snarky (but done nicely most of the time) reply to the same questions/news being asked/posted over and over and over and over......

I think it's a take on the drinking game.... as in every time someone asks who was the first Aragorn, take a drink...
...at least that's how it was explained to me.

Here's an old version of the rules for the TORN drinking game.
Aelric sez 'Good Morning' - everyone does a shot
· Someone even earlier asks 'where's our steward?' - everyone does two shots
· Someone claiming to be Kelannar posts in all caps and drones on and on about how PJ is ruining the film - but is actually kidding - everyone does a shot
· Someone takes the faux Kelannar serious and posts back complaining about the caps, tells them not to shout and asks them to give PJ a chance - everyone does two shots
· Rudy Asbestos-Jones returns - everyone chugs a pint
· Some newbie posts for the first time, introduces self and asks if anyone's heard rumors that Arwen's role will be greatly expanded - everyone does a shot
· Six or seven posters respond to clarify the Arwen situation - everyone chugs a pint
· Blanket post - everyone chugs a pint
· Someone posts 'am I the only one still up?' - everyone does two shots
· Top 10 list, song parody, or quiz posted, chug a pint
Somewhere I have an updated version, but they changed over the years to define moments on the boards when we were all required to take a drink.
Each cloak was fastened about the neck with a brooch like a green leaf veined with silver.
