It's finally summer vacation! So does anybody know if any LotR events are coming up here? Or anywhere near here.

...I'd also be willing to drive to Oregon, since I have family "in exile" down there anyway. :) It's not this summer, but something to keep in mind maybe is the annual Kalevala Day (on or around Feb.28) every year at the Nordic Heritage Museum, in Ballard, in northwest Seattle. Tolkien is often a topic on the menu. I'll remember to send out a notice again before next year's event. The Northwest Science Fiction Resources site has a calendar of Sci-Fi and Fantasy related conventions and events in the US Pacific Nortwest region. Something else that might be of interest to Tolkien fans, as well recreationists and the simply curious, is Camlann Village, a working recreation of a 14th c. rural English village which has faires going all summer and educational events all year round. It's less than a half hour east of Seattle. I *really* enjoy it and try to go as often as I can. I'm looking for more iminent and germane Middle-earth events myself, so if I find anything I'll report back. :)

I actually know one of the lady's who "works" there. She sewed a costume for me that I designed. I love it there, though the first time you go there, it's a little interesting. You don't expect them to talk authentic medieval speech. It's really fun, and Tolkien fans are always around there. You can tell by the elevn cloaks and broaches.
