Please join us for Fiesta Friday! Can't Post

Woops! Friday again! That means it's time to come together, commiserate, and enjoy some virtual goodies for Fiesta!

This was yard clean-up week here in the Altaira household. I *told* you the deck was the beginning of a slippery slope (a good one). I sorted still-good plant containers from ones that were past their prime, then had a local company come by to blow all the leaves away, get rid of dead parts of perennials to prep for new growth, and remove the leftover pots. All that's left for me to do now is cut back three 'volunteer' plants that wont take the hint that they're not welcome. Two of them are *very* thorny roses that require the heavy-duty gardening gloves, and still manage to give me a scratch or two.

How has your week treated you? Fun plans for the weekend? (hopefully, no thorny, scratchy bushes)! It's time to enjoy those yummy virtual goodies and let us know how you're doing!

*puts quarters on juke box* an 'almost Spring' song would be lovely.

Happy, wonderful weekend, everyone! HeartSmileCoolHeart

It IS Friday, isn't it! [In reply to] Can't Post

Another busy week gone by! I'm tracking time by when hubby needs his eye drops - right now, it's four times a day for two of them and once for a third, so my life is scheduled around those. Crazy

Might I have an iced coffee, please, Altaira? Will you have many potted plants on the deck? I've also got yard clean-up to do, those trees keep dropping little branches! Laugh We've got a good rainstorm on the way next week, that'll get more of the dead stuff out of the trees. Woodpeckers and other birds are quite noisy, they must be setting up territories. We finally took down our Christmas wreath when we noticed some wrens scoping it out for homesteading!

Signs of Spring [In reply to] Can't Post

Ah, yes, those little branches and twigs.

As we were leaving the yard after my inspection of their work, one of the yard guys picked up a twig, then another. "Missed a spot!" I joked. We then joked about how this time of year there could be not a twig in sight, then *poof*, one suddenly appears out of nowhere. So, fight the good fight, dernwyn! Laugh

It sounds like hubby's eye surgery went well. it helps to have an efficient caregiver during recovery. Heart

Perfect music to enjoy Spring by. Thanks, and enjoy the weekend!

No Nazgul, please [In reply to] Can't Post

That is, unless they're good at yard maintenance. Maybe the Witch King's mace could double as a weed or grass cutter?

Good one, as usual! Laugh

A day late [In reply to] Can't Post

Tricksy getting on . . . but I made it!

I had cataract surgery Wednesday, and the lenses they put in correct my vision, so I am walking around totally amazed at being able to SEE clearly without glasses for the first time in my life. (Still reach for them every morning when I wake up and then remember "oh, I don't need them!") Very happy about this.

Winter has not left us. We actually got snow yesterday - only the second time it's snowed all winter. The mountains got FEET of snow which we really need. One ski area got 70 inches and had to close because they couldn't keep up with the grooming, disappointing the thousands of eager skiers who'd hopped in their cars and driven up hoping to get in a good day on the slopes at long last. But they should all have a good weekend of skiing.

So I'll make myself a nice cuppa hot chocolate with a splash of Bailey's and have a scone.

I am a dreamer of words, of written words.

Congratulations! [In reply to] Can't Post

On having the surgery! Which eye did they do, and are you on the drops regimen now? Hubby gets his left eye done in a little over a week, he's amazed at being able to read fine print with his right eye.

That's good to hear that you did get snow. It's a surprise to any plants that were starting to come up, but at this time of year, it's just "cold water". Smile

Blow the leaves 'round! [In reply to] Can't Post

You know Spring is here when the thorns attack! Your yard is going to be SO LOVELY in a month or 2 :D You'll have to find the perfect wine or drink to sit on that deck in the sunshine and toast to your renewed yard/deck :)

We've been having book-end storms over a 4-day period. Nice, nasty ice & snow storms on Friday and now (Sunday) that pours in Monday... and I've been driving hobbity through it all! Daughter has several dr appts on Fri & Mon that meant a weekend stay here. BUT the Monday storm is promising some hair-raising hours, so I'm taking them (daughter, g'son) home up north in a 4-hour window of calm. *sigh* Missed all the appts on both days ;)

Other than that, it's SO EXCITING to have Spring coming up the road day-after-day.

Lots to do and I'm on the road in a hour... so I bid every a grand weekend, enjoy the Oscars, and have a perfect week. Thanks for taking such great care of us! :D

Stay safe! [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been watching those storms wend through your area, hoping you didn't have to drive in them!

By the way, did you get to that Home Show last week? Any treasures collected? Smile

Thank Goodness he's got you there to keep an EYE on him! AND thank Goodness there's a treatment that can help get to the other side of this.

Take care of yourself, too! It's a good thing you noticed your feathered friends were thinking of decorating their vacation home ;)

HANG IN THERE!

Yep! [In reply to] Can't Post

I got the only yard stick I saw through the whole 2 hrs there :D SCORE! But no popcorn :( Daughter made a lot of contacts for the house repairs she'll need this year, including getting an external backup generator that comes on automatically.

Actually, a few hours after I got them home and returned to my own, their power went out in an ice storm about 9pm that night (Sunday) with a prediction of restoring around 7pm tonight (Monday). Their portable generator won't start after their test run showed it was fine. I left them with containers of fresh gas and power cords running from their outside well to where it will reach the generator in the garage. So they're kinda hoping the snow that's promised all day (up to 2 ft) misses them. They're on the edge of that storm. Luckily, they've got a natural gas fireplace insert that is keeping them warm. *shakes head* Seems to be one challenge after another for them :(

Excellent! [In reply to] Can't Post

So glad to hear it went well and that you're enjoying your new, sharper vision.

We still have snow on the ground here from our 2nd 'real' storm of the season over the weekend. It won't last long though as it's supposed to get into the 50's today (10-11 C) and up to 90 (32 C) by next weekend. Eeps! It *is* nice to look out and see white mountains today though.

Enjoy your hot choccy and Baileys, and have a wonderful week! Heart

Spring storms can be the worst [In reply to] Can't Post

They're so unpredictable too. Glad you have reliable hobbity to get you from point A to point B... then points C, D, E.... Lol. Now, if the weather would just cooperate you'd be all set.

Here's to better weather and a good week for you ahead! Smile

Oh, me too! [In reply to] Can't Post

Perfect weather. Perfect Mooting. Perfect all and everything! :D

My Mom and Dad were married in San Diego when he was shipping out as a WWII Marine. She took the train from the family farm in lower Michigan and they grabbed a young couple off the street to stand as their witnesses. Lots of that sort of thing going on what with Camp Pendleton sending newbies out to sea. It was surreal and fun to get there and imagine it all :D
