Hmm. Wonder if Altaira's off slaying bots. Well, let's turn on the lights and see what's in the kitchen for Fiesta . . . looks like scones, some stew (with taters of course), leftover Halloween candy, and all the fixings for hot chocolate . . . I'll put that all on to warm up and see who shows up. *Puts quarter in jukebox, plays "Running Up that Hill" because I've just binged the first four seasons of Stranger Things in preparation for Season 5 dropping next week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp43OdtAAkM

The best hot chocolate I've come across is from a local cafe, where it's served with a long stick of chocolate to stir it (and melt into the hot drink). Picture me salivating. I had a busy Thursday with two visits to the hospital. (Planned visits - I wasn't particularly accident-prone that day.) At 9am was a CT scan to see how effective the radiation treatment on my lung was back in August (I'll get those results next week), and just after 7pm was an MRI of my head to see what's been causing persistent hearing loss and tinnitus in my left ear. Hospital appointments are like buses: you wait ages for one to turn up, then two arrive at the same time. I plan to do some clearing-out this morning by taking good but unneeded items to the Hospice Shop. They sell the donations to help keep the service running. The weather's meant to be great today and tomorrow so I might just get out on my bike for the first time in months. Between illness and bad weather (October was the Month of Fog), it's been a while! It'll be nice to get back into exercise. Have a great weekend, everyone!

So sorry, I was meant to open the bar but I got side-tracked (end of a busy week) and only just remembered! Thanks so much, Annael, for doing the honours! We had our first proper frost last night, so something mulled would go down well. I have to go out now - will pop in again later. Cheers, folks!

Took about three months of treatment, but it's gone most of the time or barely noticeable,as in I have to think about it. Something to do with too much yang/not enough yin. And also stress. I did also change my diet for a while and that also helped.

Was in a place in New York City that served very little else. They cooked it in crock pots and it was like thick chocolate soup. Served it in bowls with a big slab of home-made marshmallow. We'd been trekking around the city all day, it was February and very cold, and we sat on the balcony that ran around the interior of the room and sipped it slowly for an hour. And then we were ready for anything. I think it's high time you got done with health woes, so I shall be informing TPTB so. The holiday events are starting up. I am going to "A Christmas Tea" today at the local performance venue, and on Sunday a concert dedicated to remembering the internment camps used for those of Japanese descent during WWII. https://ochristmastea.com/

Having a unceasing tone in your head is the worst. Are you able to largely ignore it after a while? The tinnitus I have is changeable, in both volume and... type, I guess? Usually it's just a quiet background hum; at other times it's like broken morse code. A couple of times it's been so loud that I had difficulty hearing what someone was saying to me. I'm crossing my fingers that a cause can be found so that it can be fixed. When my sister in the U.S. had Covid, she said she woke one morning to church bells ringing in her head - the tinnitus was deafening. Actually, literally - she lost her hearing after that. Then six months later, she woke up to find her hearing was back as normal again. Her doctor hadn't come across anything like it and wrote a paper about it for a medical journal.

I think it's high time you got done with health woes, so I shall be informing TPTB so. The last 12 months have been (a word I can't say on TORN). Although the medical help I've received has been stellar. My god, that hot chocolate sounds divine. Chocolate soup? Count me in! One time, a New Plymouth restaurant served bread-and-butter pudding with a brandy sauce - which turned out to be a very nice bit of pudding in a middle of a brandy *soup*, there was so much of it! Good lord that was an amazing dessert. That Sunday concert sounds like it'll be an incredible experience. We need to remember what came before us so that we can understand what we have today, and hopefully build a better tomorrow. That's my simple view of the world, anyway.

it seems to vary widely. Mine is a very thin, high tone on the edge of hearing - not a great inconvenience, but vexing sometimes. Hope you manage to get out on your bike, Ataahua.

I've noticed a few houses locally with Christmas decorations already up,inside and outside. I mean, comeon people, at least leave it until December! I usually put the outside lights up around the end of the first week in December, with the inside decorations going up a week or so later.

Praise Altaira, the bot-slayer! The boards are moving fast for me today. I brought some leftover soup for anyone who is also sick. We made Stanley Tucci's pasta e fagioli recipe, which is great whether sick or not (and vegetarian/vegan too). I've had it for about 2 or 3 days now - it seems like the leftovers just won't run out. We're thinking we picked up the bug at Disneyland. My girlfriend tested negative for both the flu and Covid (which we had been vaccinated for 10 days prior), so I suppose it's some other bug going around. At this rate, we're just hoping to be healthy enough for Thanksgiving to see everyone. Given it also rained a majority of the past week, we've been locked indoors and are very ready to get OUT and do something. We had tickets booked to see Wicked: For Good tonight but will have to reschedule for when it's appropriate to be in public again. In the meantime, wishing everyone a happy weekend! Just 3 more days of work before a long holiday weekend, for those stateside!
Join us every weekend in the Hobbit movie forum for this week's CHOW (Chapter of the Week) discussion!

You're really good at attending to the masses! *looks around* Such as we are ;) THANK YOU! The usual Bartenders each had out-of-town stuff going on or was planning on getting things started. So it seems stuff all hit at once! Thank you for rescuing us, m'dear! Oooooo... HOT CHOCOLATE! It's been an exciting day! Local daughter was supposed to sign for her house (originally) today; but it got changed a couple of days ago to Monday... then text last night there was a text that said it was today (Fri)!!! So we jumped in ol' Hobbity and drove the hr and 1/2 up to the appointment. We get there only to discover the seller couldn't make it afterall... so we're back to Monday. NO PROBLEM! *sigh* I'm going to our small town's craft show at the high school in the morning (Sat). Last week was the opening of deer-hunting season, so the town has the sale for those of us who don't indulge and will grab the excuse to have a craft show. They usually call it the hunter-widow's party time :D I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and those with plans for Thanksgiving have an awesome holiday!! Thanks again Annael!

Isn't that a plague and a nuisance? You're supposed to be getting past these speedbumps of the medical type. You've been in my prayers ever since the lung bump... so we'll just expand on that *massive hug* Hopefully everything will settle down and be a simple issue in time for you to enjoy the warmer weather. Yeah... sitting around at the hospital is NOT FUN! But a bike ride after a long winter's sleep sounds perfect! Maybe ride to the ice cream parlor and grab a cone of something yummy! Enjoy your weekend *shoots positive vibes*

Oh man... it's not right to be sick over a holiday! I hope you both feel better fast. Bummer that you had to wait on Wicked and that the rain is still battering you. :( Altaira is off on an adventure, so I'm surprised the bots are a bit better. Shhhhhhhhh.... maybe they're asleep! Love the Tucci Man! Love his show where he travel Italy testing all the regional foods. I put on 5 pounds just watching! Feel Better... and have a great long weekend off!
