Oh, fersher! I wouldn't be surprised if his writings on trench warfare weren't referenced in the making of this very detailed series.
The observation and explanation of how and why the weapons were used has given me a greater appreciation not only of the reasons for the actions, but that there's nothing more brutal than hand-to-had combat. Very chilling! Gives a deeper meaning to my Marine Corps Dad's WWII rifle that sat in the corner of the bedroom behind the door... next to the Japanese rifle. Picturing them in hand now.
