I'm so happy for you to get to the Woodland Walks at Bolesworth Castle. Just getting to the Castle sounds awesome; but a peaceful walk through the woodland sounds perfect... especially when you can share it with a friend. Have a wonderful weekend! I hope you get some rain in good measure. Not too much, not to wimpy ;)

Their final resting place is about 90% done. There are some HUGE specimens that will just have to stay where they are. I'll fashion them into benches and/or chainsaw carve them into (hopefully recognizable) animal, birdy, NZ woodland icons, etc. I'll have to stare at each of the 5 big guys and what they reveal or tell me they are ;)

Thank you for the family recipe :D I'm absolutely going to give it a go! Too bad the traffic had to be so busy; but what a wonderful and meaningful way to share this time with family. It was a great way to celebrate their life together and remember those still in our hearts. *warm hug* I hope the rest of your weekend (and Mother's Day) is restful as you still feel the glow of your gathering. Take care... :)

I've received a hand-drawn card from my youngest, who always draws her own cards, showing a Momma cat and her kitten. So appropriate, since her name is Kat! And my menfolk selected a hanging plant for me, one that's just about to burst all over with little purple trumpet-like flowers. Now I just have to get through the special piece we're starting the service with in church tomorrow: five octaves of handbells and three octaves of hand-chimes playing Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster's The Prayer - I found a video of a group playing it, you can imagine me being the fourth gal from the right, with my son malleting all the bells lower than mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmsfOlocazc

And have a relaxing bike ride. Any particular route you're taking/took? The city is right on the coast and we have a 13km/8mile shared coastal path (currently working on extending it to 20km/12.4mi), with lots of access points along the way, so I usually end up there for part of my ride - I just mix up the routes I take to get there.

There have been some very localised showers, but none of them hit my area. Yesterday, with another friend, I went to a dolls house and miniatures fair about an hour's drive away. What a delight - so many tiny things! We didn't get carried away; had a good prowl round the stalls spotting promising items, had a cup of tea then went back round to buy some nice bits and pieces. We spotted some good ideas for things to make, too, so it was a very pleasant outing. I haven't room for another doll's house, but I could squeeze in a room box or two. A fabric shop box would be appropriate for me!

I had to Google what a cheeseburger slider is! Thanks for posting the recipe, I'll give that a try once I've translated cups to ounces/grams. Sounds yummy!

I think I've got the conversions correct: Zucchini Chocolate Cake In one bowl, sift together 300 g flour, 30 g cocoa powder, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp cloves, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp baking powder. In another bowl, cream 115 g soft butter, 125 ml vegetable oil, and 350 g caster or golden sugar. Beat in 2 eggs, 1 tsp vanilla, and 125 ml sour milk or buttermilk. Add in the dry ingredients, and about 2 cups shredded zucchini (that's 2 which are 20-25 cm long) and about 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Pour into a greased and floured 23 x 33 x 5 cm pan; bake at 165C for about 45 minutes, until the cake is pulling away from the sides of the pan and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out "clean". No need to frost!

But how awesome to go to a dollhouse/miniatures fair! I've never heard of one around here; but I'm definitely going to check! I've been gathering materials for the past 5 years to build a miniature of Mom & Dad's house they built by the lake when Dad came home from WWII. It's where we all grew up and seemed like it would exists forever! When my siblings and I were getting the house ready to sell after Mom passed away, I ran around and took hundreds of pictures of each room, inside & outside, and even measured where ever wall outlet and light switch were on the walls.

It's simultaneously exactly what you (or I) expect and fully beyond what you could imagine. I know that's contradictory and mysterious sounding but I guess such iconic places should be, lol. A cool souvenir I got for myself was an old, small flip-book pamphlet - almost like a mini a comic book. It was at a small pop-up shop that had books and miscellaneous little things, and I thought the flip-book had a charm to it as it was from the 70's and was clearly well-read by someone once upon a time. Thanks, hope you had a nice Mother's Day!

That flip-book is an unique souvenir! Is it in Chinese? Thank you, I had a nice relaxing day (except for having to play a bell piece, see my post to gramma: http://newboards.theonering.net/...readed;post=1018309; - as long as I was continually counting the beats, it worked out well).

Some of them had scenes from old European B movies that even I couldn't identify, but this one was more culturally Chinese so I found it more interesting to have. Oh neat, that sounds fun! And also a bit challenging, but the fun is the important part haha.
