Do you think Rings of Power will one day carry merchandise?

So I was able to get my hands on the complete soundtrack of Season 1, and the standard soundtracks for seasons 1-2, and was able to find the FYC DVD and booklet for Season one on Ebay(I'm hoping they will release a season 2 FYC DVD since all the other dvds on there are pirated) but do you think Amazon will eventually release merchandise for the series? I'm hoping for an official DVD/Bluray release and hopefully an art book? I'm not sure why they haven't promoted more for it, unless it has to do with the rights.

As you note, there already is some official merch in the form of original soundtrack albums. More merchandise seems inevitable--eventually. However, you've hit the nail on its head when you guessed that Amazon does not have the rights to authorize official merch on its own. Those rights are controlled by The Embracer Group through Middle-earth Enterprises (assuming my own understanding is correct). This seems to me to introduce a big complication for anyone wanting to produce Rings of Power merchandise. If I am mistaken, please, correct me!

Especially since more recently, streaming services like Disney have started to release their exclusives on physical copies and with Amazon starting to release some of the Boys on DVD as well. I'm hopeful we will get a DVD release soon. Especially now that they also released the complete soundtrack of Season 1 as a box set last Spring/Summer. I'm hoping they will distribute the For Your Consideration DVD for season 2 as well, since I was able to find season 1.

Productions often get around that by inventing characters and other items not in the original source materials. JJ Abrams, et al loves to do that. Millennium Falcon with a rectangular dish, C3PO with a red arm, any "25% different" alternative Star Trek trash, Tauriel, Nori, Arondir, etc. The ROP showrunners are JJ Abrams disciples, so...

Citation, please. The ROP showrunners are JJ Abrams disciples, so... This is so well known "common knowledge" that I'm greatly surprised by this request, like asking me to prove 1+1. In any case, just do your own work by searching "did payne work for jj abrams". But here's three wiki links to corroborate. Look for "abrams" and "payne" in the text. You could search on "bad robot payne" to find more. You can add in or substitute McKay for Payne. It would work just as well. They both worked for Bad Robot, Abrams' production company, infamous for Abrams' "Mystery Box." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lord_of_the_Rings:_The_Rings_of_Power https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Star_Trek_4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Payne_and_Patrick_McKay More: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/the-rings-of-power-showrunners-interview-season-2-1235233124/ https://www.cbr.com/lord-of-rings-rings-of-power-jj-abrams-showrunner-recommendation/ Were you looking for proof in the hopes to discredit opinion about Rings of Power?

but let's please keep arguing out of this thread please. I made it to see if others think we will get merchandise for this series, because me myself am a collector and would like to own it, even if Rings of Power isn't considered good by some standards. (I personally love it, even if it is flawed). Admin, if I am crossing any boundaries by saying this, please let me know and I apologize, but I would prefer us to not get into any disagreements over merchandise that has yet to come out.

I’d noticed there was little merchandise out there but hadn’t thought about why.

I’m not much of a collector, except for soundtracks, DVDs and books like the Weta ones, so I wasn’t bothered. It hadn’t occurred to me that the absence of collectibles might be a rights issue but that makes sense. My impression was that Amazon just doesn’t produce much in the way of collectibles relating to its streaming shows, so between that and the rights thing, I’m not hopeful. I wish the situation was different because I would very much like to get Season 2 of Good Omens on disc. As for RoP, I also have those unofficial Seasons 1 and 2 DVDs and the standard soundtracks. I love the music, but that’s sufficient. I’d like to get DVDs with extras though. it's not actual RoP merchandise, but I did receive the book The Fall of Numenor for Christmas. I’m glad to have it because it brings together Tolkien’s writings on the subject in one volume.

and was able to have the FYC copy of season one. I'm hoping I will see some for sale for season 2 closer to Emmy Season on Ebay so I can have two as well. I'm waiting it out to get the unofficial DVDs, but if they end up never releasing the show on DVD, I may have to resort to that. But would love to at least have the official DVDs.

A quick perusal of Ebay yielded the following.....

Ebay seems to have a lot of ROP items. All sorts of disc sets. But also tote bags, replica swords of Galadriel or Numenorean warriors. Sauron's iron spiky crown, various ring sets, some publicity photos from various episodes. So that might be a good start for you. Had to keep changing search words and often got different results depending on whether I punched in, Rings of Power merchandise, souvenirs, memorabilia, gift items. Tried em all. Typed in Rings of Power tote bags as a standalone, saw bags under a different search category, then couldn't find them again. Weird. Oh well, hope this helps, happy hunting.... My eventual hope (and expectation) is that Amazon at least releases an eventual box set with all five seasons plus some cool behind the scenes. My shelf needs it. (To me this is a minimum requirement for Tolkien stuff but I have no power here)
"So which story do you prefer?" "The one with the tiger. That's the better story." "Thank you. And so it goes with God."

is now out for pre-order. That being a prime original show like the Rings of Power, gives me alot of hope that eventually Rings of Power will go on it's way to be o Blurary. I know there are alot of Fallout fans, so if they did that for them, I'm very hopeful that Amazon will put Rings of Power on DVD/Bluray for the Middle-earth fans!
