Not far ahead rose gloomy hills, rising higher and higher, dark beneath the canopy of trees. On some of them stood old castles, looking sinister, as if built by evil people.

You're spending a quiet evening at the Prancing Pony Inn in Bree when a huntsman sits down at your table to tell you a tale of a dark threat looming over the Northern Downs. But you're not just travelers passing through—you're members of a Company. It's your self-appointed duty to investigate the chilling dangers that might arise from the deserted hills beyond. Are you ready to take to the road of adventure?

This new, beginner-friendly starter set for The One Ring™ roleplaying game , based on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, contains everything you need to embark on an adventure in Middle-earth. Step into a world set between Bilbo's first journey and the events of The Lord of the Rings™ , explore the Lone Lands of Eriador, and play as characters whose stories have yet to be written.

This box includes:

  • Condensed rules for action resolution, combat, advice, and travel.

  • The complete Over Hill and Under Hill adventure , which takes the heroes deep into the wilds of northern Eriador to confront a dark threat.

  • A large, full-color map of the lands of Eriador, with a battle diagram on the reverse.

  • Beautifully illustrated cardboard figurines representing the Hero-players and their Adversaries.

  • Five pre-generated and illustrated player heroes.

  • Two D12 prowess dice and six D6 success dice, all engraved with custom symbols.

  • This new Starter Set will be released in its original version on July 31, 2025.

Not surprisingly, there will also be a Starter Set for The One Ring Roleplaying that will be a 5E conversion of the upcoming Over Hill and Under Hill set:
