From a common start in Munchkinland, which foursome reaches Oz first? What specific obstacles do our Hobbit Foursome encounter? What gift does each of the hobbits ask of the Wizard?
****************************************** "Begone, foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace!" "Come not between the Nazgul and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye." "Do what you will; but I will hinder it, if I may." "Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!" "But no living man am I! I am Eowyn, daughter of Theodwyn!" "Er, really? My mother's name was Theodwyn, too!" "No way!" "Way!" "Wow! Let's stop fighting and be best friends!" "Cool!!" -Zack Snyder's The Return of the King

Assuming that's where they start following the Golden Ring Brick Road, the first problem is being allowed to get away, as the Munchkins will consider them long-lost cousins. Since the four are already together, they don't need the distractions of de-rusting one of them or taming another. On the other hand, if Frodo needs to pick up the other three along the way, then Sam is the scarecrow, Pippin is the tin woodsman, and Merry is the lion - but apart from Sam needing a brain, there's no issues, as Pippin's oil comes in pints, and Merry is lion in heart only. Fun in the apple tree forest: Pippin gathers as many apples as possible while Sam deftly disables the trees with plenty of rotten ones. And the field of poppies is no problem for those accustomed to Pipe-weed. They arrive well ahead of the other foursome. Should we assume the Wizard is Gandalf, and the Wicked Witch is Saruman? Unfortunately, although he has a mental melt-down, he is physically unaffected by Treebeard's drowning of Isengard. But they do annoy him enough to end up collecting his Palantir. They return with the Palantir, and Gandalf grants them their gifts: To Frodo: gets a ride from Gwaihir to dispose of an annoying piece of jewelry in a suitable natural furnace. To Sam: the title of Mayor of the Shire. No extra brains come with it, but because of that title, nobody notices. To Pippin: a subscription to Lembas of the Day, via Grub-hob'. To Merry: Full control of the Pipe-weed production in the Shire.
