Query: Pippin's Japanese Voice Actor
|
Can't Post

There is surprisingly little online about the Japanese dub cast for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I'm trying to find the name of the actor who provided the Japanese voice for our dear Peregrin Took. Online sources are scarce and contradictory. Who was he? Is he still alive and working? Is he voicing a character in The War of the Rohirrim anime film? I'd really like to know, especially after learning that Billy Boyd also has a role in the anime. Please and thank you!

As best as I can determine, Pippin was voiced by one Masaki Iizumi (possibly Masaki Ii-izumi). However, I can find out very little more except that the person might have given up acting. Does anyone have better intel? Masaki Iizumi (Seiyu Wiki): https://seiyuwiki.fandom.com/...=Masaki+Ii-izumi&h=1

The site animate Times posted an article in October providing additional cast members for the Japanese dub of War of the Rohirrim. The story confirms the voice actor Masataka (Masaki) Iizumi in the role of "the ferocious orc Shank". There's even some comments from the actor:
I was very surprised when I received an offer to play Shank in "The Lord of the Rings: The Battle of Rohan" via SMS. Since I had been away from acting and voice acting for a long time, I thought it was definitely spam (laughs). "The Hobbit Pippin that I played before was a lovable character, but this time I'm playing the ferocious orc Shank. I'm excited about the opportunity to try a completely different role in the same world line. During the recording of the first trilogy, researchers of Elvish languages were also involved in providing guidance, and I still vividly remember the entire staff taking on the challenge of creating a fantasy world with such sincerity. I am truly honored to be a part of Director Kamiyama's new spin on such a beloved story and the epic adventure he will tell from his unique perspective. “Hell hath no fury like that of the uninvolved.” - Tony Isabella
