Both! [In reply to] Can't Post

I was walking along the streets between my hotel (Quest) in Lambton Quay toward Bunny Street and along the shore at Frank Kitts Park (great Ice Cream!) near Te Papa Museum... then up to Mt. Victoria where I got blasted to staggering looking down at Wellington. *sigh* So homesick.

Hurrah for the rain! [In reply to] Can't Post

Can you set up a pipeline to send some of that to New England? A brush fire last week was only a mile from my house...Shocked

Pumpkin spice muffins, what a perfect thing to make for everyone! What kind of frosting did you put on them?

What a splendid production "Come From Away" has become, I do hope it makes its way here. One of the best "good vibes" shows!

No worries, just teasing you like the way I tease my Austin brother when he talks about "cold" weather. Laugh

The better team won, no doubt. And I love the way they steal bases.

Yikes, yes, get that tetanus ASAP! Not long, now! Visas in order?

That's labor-intensive, but very satisfying, kudos to you for making it! You're going to have a fun weekend!

There are so many [In reply to] Can't Post

fine Welsh places to visit near you! How long a train trip is it, there? (I'm also a bit jealous of your extensive railroads, I'm at the age where I'd much rather hop a train than have to drive somewhere.)

Your knitters group is so good at "dressing up the village" in decorations. Heart

You won a photography section? Give yourself a pat on the back, you're doing very well with that, then! Cool

*gets mug of morning coffee* [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings back atcha, Altaira! Smile Hubby and I took a trip to the Berkshires yesterday, it's two and a half hours up there, the worst is getting through Hartford and Springfield traffic. Tongue

But we spent a couple hours visiting his aunt, at 90 she's the only one of his uncles and aunts left. We visited his parents' grave, and had dinner with one of his old high school friends, catching up for another couple of hours. Didn't get home until after 10...I need a "yawn" emoji.

We did have some trick-or-treaters, 9 total, neighborhood kids. I've been hearing that some neighborhoods held parties for the kids instead.

Debating whether to do some fall trimming of the flowering bushes, just to get out in the crisp air. A song? Hm, I had "Digital Divas" rehearsal this morning, imagine this played on eight keyboards (I'm always given the easy bass part): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Ws6DdrDtyo

I've not been a big Ryan Gosling fan either, except for "Lars and the Real Girl." I like him better as a character actor not a leading man. But I'll take your recommendation.

I was in grad school with a woman from San Diego who insisted that they did, in fact, have seasons there. "I can tell when it's fall, some of the leaves turn brown." I finally said to her, "but you do realize that when the rest of us talk about seasons, we mean something very different?"

She spent last year living in Estonia, so I think she understands now.

Despite gramma's efforts [In reply to] Can't Post

I still haven't managed to post pics! It looks like nothing compared to most of the others on show, but it nailed the brief of 'Man Made' and just seemed to appeal to the judge. It's a straight-on view of intersecting timbers in a Tudor wattle and daub house wall, with carpenter's marks (Roman numerals) showing the correct places to slot the timbers together (pegged mortice and tenon joints). Others entered images of city skylines, cranes, wonderful historic buildings, rusty machinery etc; I was delighted but rather embarrassed that mine won!

Knees are still a bit cranky, but I'm on the list for another set of steroid injections at some point, which will help. I must admit that one pack of treats, acquired in a moment of weakness, never made it to the treats cauldron!~slurp~

My daughter drove us to Chester and it was [In reply to] Can't Post

one hour 45mins from there, direct. The railways may be extensive, but they are rather prone to delays and cancellations and more recently strikes! The train we were going to take home was cancelled at short notice so we had to catch another for two stations, then change. It's also more expensive to take four people by train than it would be to travel by car, which is a disincentive to use rail travel.

Hehe [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been a strange past two weeks, we sometimes stay in the low 90s into early November, yet this year it's been more winter-like already.

Too bad we have to wait months for baseball now! But it's a very long season, so I'm happy those guys get to finally have some family time to rest.

Yes! We did visa-related stuff a few weeks ago as NZ raised the price for it on Oct. 1, so we were incentivized to do it early. Smile

What a wonderful trip-- [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll bet there were lots of smiles from his Aunt :) It's so great you could get so much "mileage" from the trip in visits, but that long ride through traffic is NOT fun! Enjoy your weekend. I'll bet some time outside with your plants would be a great way to shift gears and settle after that traffic!

I have waaay too much lasagna. [In reply to] Can't Post

Even if everyone who I thought was going to be there had turned up (and not everyone did), I still had made way too much lasagna for dinner. There's leftovers enough for a couple of families there. My fridge is Lasagna Central. I can't eat all that lasagna! I don't have room to *freeze* all that lasagna! What have I done??

Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
