Well, well. Greetings and salutations everyone! B.G. and I decided not to *do* Halloween last night. We turned off the porch light, closed the blinds, and didn't have one ring. Before when we've done that we at least had a few rings of the bell, but it *was* a school night, and I think the kids in the neighborhood are all getting to an age where they're too grown up and cool to go out trick-or-treating. However, Wednesday night we got in the car and did our annual drive-around to look at decorations in the area and there were way fewer than usual, so maybe not as many adults were into Halloween either. It's been a while since we've had a TORn forums reunion, and we used to have them around this time of year, so I thought next Friday at Fiesta might be a good time to renew the tradition! So, if you're still in touch with any 'oldies but goodies', let them know they're welcome to stop by and say howdy! Well, I know what baseball fans were doing this week, and congratulation to the Dodgers for taking the series! For the rest of us, do let us know how your week went and what your plans for the weekend might be. There are plenty left-overs of your favorite candy, and the bar is stocked to the brim, so have a pass at both and let us know! *puts quarters on juke box* a song! a song! Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

The forecast is for rain, rain, rain and more rain. Not just for next week but for months now. We can expect "atmospheric rivers." And lots of snow in the mountains, always a good thing. Still warm enough (low 40s at night) for my hanging fuchsia and other plants to keep on flowering, so I haven't put the garden to bed. We don't get kids in our senior complex - the neighborhood just up the hill goes to town on holiday decor, and I'm sure they all went there. But I baked pumpkin spice cupcakes and took them around to the neighbors and our manager. My candy-corn lights and plastic jack-o-lantern are now stowed away for next year. Because it was also Diwali, I lit a bunch of candles last night and watched my Thursday night shows (Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Ghosts, and Matlock - Kathy Bates is a delight) by that light. "Come From Away" was wonderful. I saw it first when they were still workshopping it, in a small venue, with only a piano and I think a fiddle; this time they had a full Irish band who came on stage from time to time and at the end saw us off with a medley of songs from the production. We were impressed by how NONSTOP the play is - those actors must be exhausted by the end! This week I mostly plan on staying OFF social media and television as much as possible. 'nuff said. The annual Mythologium starts next Friday and I'm on a panel so I'll do a bit of rehearsing. I'll take an Angel Mist please, Altaira!

It was a delight, so I'm sure it was that x 10 to see it live. As B.G. likes to do, he teed up a few documentaries on it afterward which were also a delight. As you probably know, the cast went to Gander to meet the real people, and they performed the play there before opening on Broadway. They then flew as many of the 'real' people as they could to NY to attend the opening and they got to walk the red carpet and everything! It's just one feel good story after another. Months of rain? I'm so used to the Colorado sunshine I'm not even sure where my umbrella is, lol. I guess you get used to it though, and plan as many indoor things as you can. Enjoy the week and the start of the Mythologium!

That's too bad your neighborhood was a bit muted compared to previous years. We saw quite a few families out and about trick-or-treating after dark, as well as some impressively lit up decorations on some houses. We've had a fairly busy week, between the World Series (woo!), some family visiting and last minute trip prep. And the weather has gotten much colder than usual for this time of year, so I'm finding it hard to wake myself up in the morning under a mountain of blankets! Tomorrow we have a birthday party on my girlfriend's side, so my guess is the rest of our weekend will be for errands, rest and packing. And agh, I have to find some time to squeeze in my tetanus booster... Hope everyone had a nice Halloween - happy weekend!

I can't believe your trip is almost here! You must be so excited. I'm definitely excited for you and your girlfriend. I thought you might be walking around with a big smile on your face after the Dodgers' triumph. It sounds like you have lots of other things to smile about too, so enjoy everything this weekend!

at one of the local restaurant/bars, and the guy who runs it gave out 25 bonus points for teams that dressed for Halloween, plus another 50 for the best costumed team. We won both costumes and the game! And the swag was good too, a $50 gift certificate from the restaurant. Next week we'll have all the appetizers.

Unusually, I have a busy weekend ahead. Today it's a haircut, making lasagna for five to eight people (not sure exactly how many are staying for dinner) and a half-day catch-up with family, and tomorrow I'm meeting up with two sets of friends for lunch and dinner. I don't think I'll even have time for reading **gasp** this weekend. The weather's grey with some rain forecast, but it's humid as heck - 91% right now. For some reason, my laptop has logged me out of all pages. Passwords aren't a problem as I have them written down (in shorthand - no-one else can read them) but it's the annoyance of it all. Especially as Facebook hasn't approved my login yet. Anyway, have a great weekend, everyone!
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. It was funny being at a restaurant when the game ended, as everyone had to have their "inside voices" on when celebrating. Different tables reacted in different moments, depending on how much their stream was delayed on their phones. Plenty of louder screams in the car afterwards, though. We also let out a little scream (panic) earlier upong typing out our to-do list before we leave, lol. But we'll get it all done. Thanks! Hope you have a good one too! Your Broncos seem to be having a good year so far, so fingers crossed you have something to smile about on Sunday too.

We do a weekly trivia, but haven't had a costume contest - that's a fun idea. Although, the games are so competitive that I think the regulars wouldn't want a final score coming down to whether you wore a costume or not. Our scores are often nail-biters. Enjoy the appetizers next week!

I did the same, although I never have kids come way out here. The temp was fantastic given the time of year, and there was no rain. However, the wind was gusting to 40mph with a steady 25-30mph flow, so I'm sure the costumes and decorations were flying like leaves. I purposely did go out in the dark and walked along for a while pretending I was in Wellington ;) "AUNTIE EM! TOTO!" This past week has been pretty calm. Taking daughter to appointments, though those are getting to be fewer as she heals from her surgery. But coming up in the next week or two are VA-related follow-ups to her Navy-related illnesses (maybe lungs and neurological stuff) which we'll turn into ROAD TRIPS! One will be 2 1/2 hrs to the west making it to Lake Michigan, the other a few days later will take about 2 hrs to the east almost to Lake Huron. Nearly a straight line from shore to shore between the 2 cities with us in the middle. Thankfully it should be before any snow moves in making for nasty roads. SUV-hobbity LOVES road trips! If she had a tail, it would be wagging! I'm going to grab a warm cup of cider and p'raps scrounge up a donut to dunk! Thanks for taking such great care of us, Altaira. And I'll see if I can bring along some wayward sibbies for next Fiesta!. Have a great week everyone! :D

Right away I thought the rain was perfect timing to build up the coming snow that will be so welcome during next year's possible dry spells. How very cool that you brought some festive spirit to your neighbours. I'll bet there were a lot of smiles that night :D It's going to be a long week with some of my favourite movies lined up. Have you seen the new movie "The Fall Guy" yet? Emily Blunt is always a winner; but I haven't been a Ryan Gosling fan... until now!!! This flick has made my "favs" list that's a lot of fun with some great hidden treasures/references and is a fabulous "stunt" movie. Even the accompanying commentary is great! However, one player named Jean Claude does steal the show here and there. So that's my assignment for you during the coming week's distractions. :D Enjoy!!

I was busy for a couple of hours with trick-or-treaters last night, all well dressed-up and well-behaved, happily. The weather was calm, mild and dry so there was a bumper crop! They almost cleaned me out - the few remaining treats are not ones that appeal to me, so I'll help myself to some virtual nibbles instead, thanks! I can reach CheshireCat on Facebook; I'll drop her a message about the reunion. On Wednesday I went with my daughter and grandsons on the train to the fine old Welsh seaside resort of Llandudno for the day. The traditional part of it is a lovely place, very scenic with a sweeping Victorian promenade lined with fine old buildings, and a pier lined with kiosks selling daft souvenirs and overpriced fish and chips etc. We had a great day, but my knees were wrecked! I'm not used to being on my feet for so long. Today I and some of the other knitters in my group dressed the village up with knitted poppies, ahead of Remembrance Day. Not masses, like you see in some places, but a respectful scattering here and there, which people appreciate. Tonight was the photographic society meeting and, to my immense surprise, I won the digital section of the latest competition! Really wasn't expecting that. They bring in an external judge, so it wasn't a case of, 'Oh, she's one of our new members, let's give her a bit of encouragement.' Enjoy your weekend, however you spend it, folks - cheers!

I'll bet you did a double-take when you saw the results! GREAT JOB! And what fabulous encouragement to keep at it Owie on your knees. It takes a while to get them settled down once they've been challenged like that. Hopefully they'll quickly set to rights. And you were very wise not to supply treats that you like. *sigh* That was always my downfall where I lived in the past and had lots of trick-or-treaters. The spoils were my downfall ;) What a lovely way for your group to share your honour of Remembrance Day with hand-made poppies. Charming and poignant. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. :)
