Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond!! September 2

Greetings Fellow Walkers!! Welcome to SEPTEMBER! Mercy, how TIME flies! ;) We're quickly approaching Bilbo & Frodo's birthday when the Fellowship grows and Walks from the Shire to Rivendell and all the other events before and after: Eowyn Challenge Site Charts THE LORD OF THE RINGS: · Bag End to Rivendell · Rivendell to Lorien · Lorien to Rauros · Rauros to Isengard - Merry and Pippin’s Path · Rauros to Isengard - Aragorn’s Path · Isengard to Minas Tirith - Gandalf and Pippin’s Path · Isengard to Minas Tirith - Aragorn’s Path · Isengard to Minas Tirith - Merry’s Path · Rauros to Mount Doom - Frodo and Sam’s Path · Minas Tirith to Morannon - Captains of the West Path · Morannon to Minas Tirith - The Return · The Road Home: Minas Tirith to Isengard · The Road Home: Isengard to Rivendell · The Road Home: Rivendell to Bag End · Bag End to the Grey Havens If you want to join our Hobbits on their long Quest (along with their Fellow Questers who join along the way), you can start here by following Frodo down from the door where it began on September 22nd. I'm at the point where I've been following Aragorn's Path: Isengard to Minas Tirith FOREVER! This week Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas and I have arrived at the Havens of Pelargir along with the Army of the Dead where we fought off the Fleet of Umbar. After the battle (if you want to call it that ;), Aragorn declares the Dead have fulfilled their oaths and so released them. NOW we have a ride by river to Minas Tirith!! *applause* The only pause suffered when we approached was by Legolas when he heard the cry of the gulls for the first time. *sigh* So how are you coming along on your Quest? Remember, each of us are going our own way and enjoying our own Quest. Though we are all, in a sense, in this together as we enjoy our days during our Walk to Rivendell :D Enjoy your days, take care, and I'll see you on the Road!! *waves fondly*

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond!! October 2

Welcome Fellow Walkers! We've made it to Fall (in the Northern Hemi) and/or Spring (in the Southern Hemi)! The trees in Michigan are starting the season in fine form with colour bursting suddenly everywhere! The Fellowship is beginning to form as the hobbits follow a mysterious Ranger through the wilds as they make for Rivendell from Bree. Do you find yourself developing an itch to set out on a hike through the wilds or pick up a familiar book (or books) by Master Tolkien? I tend to wander into both. I can't resist the wonderful weather and personality of Fall in the farmlands were I live; but I also love to put on some fuzzy-warm sweats and settle in my comfy chair to read "The Lord of the Rings" (my annual visitation). What are your plans, and do they include some activities that welcome your new season weather Northern or Southern? Remember that every activity (cleaning *urp*, walking, yard work, etc.) can be converted in mileage that can put you in the Quest with our Fellowship via the Eowyn Challenge charts. I'm still on the move following "Isengard to Minas Tirith: Aragorn's Path" where we've commandeered the enemy's fleet and are sailing for Minas Tirith as fast as the winds will carry us! Sadly, in the far distance, we can see the glow of fires from the battle that's already started. TAKE CARE and have a great season! *waves fondly* I'll see you on the Road!

I have a lot going on. However, after breaking my tradition of reading LOTR in the fall for the last 5 years, I opened the book on Bilbo/Frodo's birthday and started reading again. I am at The Ring Goes South now and have rediscovered my passion for Tolkien. I purchased The Fall of Gondolin and Beren and Luthien and will read those next. Fall IS my favorite season followed by spring. I have been hiking here in the mountains of Utah near by home several times now. The leaves are beautiful and one trail really reminds me of Frodo and Sam and company leaving The Shire as they headed out. I've hiked about 24 miles this fall for about 5 hikes.

You've just made me smile BIG TIME! Once you start reading it again, there's big trouble putting it down. I'm so glad you're back in the world again and that your hikes are now shared with the hobbits. I love this story so much! Well Done on the HIKING! Both the mileage and the beauty of it! *high five* Thank you! :D

Yes, it's been great! So sorry I put it off for so long! In addition I have a CD player in my 2020 Subaru Ascent so I am listening to the books on CD by Rob Inglis as I drive around. I'll take a picture of my hiking sticks that I have and use whenever I hike . . .

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond!! November 1

Greetings Fellow Walkers! Hail and well met on this November 1st! It's already NOVEMBER! T'is the start of a season filled with holiday gatherings, great food, lots of distractions and planning crowded into our still very busy days. But the excitement for what is coming makes for a very special time :) Are your plans for the coming weeks already forming? It's also a time of the year that can be very creative in accumulating mileage for your Quest. Remember that every activity can be converted into miles that will add up faster than expected! Shopping, cleaning *urp*, yard work to prep for the change in seasons... all will move you along on your way. I know I'm really paying attention to the activity to (hopefully) offset the foodstuff I plan to indulge in! Thanksgiving always promises to do damage... not to mention what Halloween just inflicted! GLORIOUS! I'm a victim of an outstanding Cider Mill half an hour away that makes the most amazing Cider, Caramel Apples, and Pastries! OMG! Anyway, back in Middle-earth, the Hunters and I have arrived by river to the edge of the Pelennor Fields where smoke rises from Minas Tirith and the battle is raging! HERE WE GO! So with this, I have completed the Eowyn Challenge chart Isengard to Minas Tirith - Aragorn’s Path. I've been at it since October 2023! I'm starting the next chart, Isengard to Minas Tirith - Merry’s Path. This will be my 4th trip with Merry since 2006. Tally ho! Enjoy your coming holidays... stay safe... and I'll see you on the Road! :D
