Jim Broadbent announced for S2 Can't Post

USA Today confirms that Academy Award-winning British actor Jim Broadbent joins the cast of RoP. Broadbent will provide the voice of the Ent Snaggleroot, while actress Olivia Williams (The Sixth Sense, The Ghostwriter, Rushmore) will be voicing Entwife Winterblossom.

This means that Broadbent will join his fourth major fantasy franchise:

Harry Potter: Professor Horace Slughorn
The Chronicles of Narnia: Professor Kirke
Game of Thrones: Archmaester Ebrose
The Lord of the Rings: Snaggleroot

Broadbent must arguably be the biggest name among to join The Rings of Power so far, and the only(?) Academy Award-winning actor to do so. Curiously enough, he hasn't been officially announced by Amazon, but he'll undoubtedly make a terrific Ent. As some of you might know, he has succesfully done some voice acting in the past (one of the voice trumpets in Teletubbies, among other roles).

Now now Bill, you swore this was a battle between warriors, not a bunch of miss nancies, so warriors is what I brought

The best [In reply to] Can't Post

Broadbent is one of those actors who elevates everything he's in. I've been a fan since Moulin Rouge!

"So which story do you prefer?"
"The one with the tiger. That's the better story."
"Thank you. And so it goes with God."

IMDb [In reply to] Can't Post

I would have submitted their casting data to IMDb, but I'd have to know what episode in which each of them would debut.

I'm excited to hear his voice work! [In reply to] Can't Post

He does amazing in Fantasy, and I think he will be the perfect Ent!

"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

No...What's heeee like? [In reply to] Can't Post

Loved Broadbent ever since his star turn as the Spanish Emphanta's ever present translator in The Blackadder.

So, with respect to S2 - "again please".

Sauron's ring is a horcrux [In reply to] Can't Post

Sauron: Ah Professor Slughorn, I need your input, for academic reasons of course, on creating a horcrux in the shape of a ring.

Slughorn: Ok sure, let's head over to the nearest volcano and I'll show you how it's done.
