Cate Blanchett: "No one got paid anything to do that movie (LOTR).” Can't Post

On the US talk show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the actor was asked about what film yielded her the highest pay cheque, with the host assuming the answer would be Peter Jackson’s 2001 box office hit.

“Are you kidding me,” Blanchett responds. “No. No one got paid anything to do that movie.”

In another version of the story on another platform, it was mentioned that Orlando Bloom got paid $175,000 for all three films, and Cate added that the payment for women in films is nowhere near what people think.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

It was all such a risk [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm glad she was so happy to work with Jackson :D I remember how people wondered if these films would be successful... except for John Rhys Davies who was adamant that they'd be epic! ;) They didn't even know how to market them when they came out. They were aiming at the male 15-30yo age group (more or less). I remember shaking my head at them and waving my arms! "Hello! I'm over here!"

Not very many of the players were "big" names at the time... though many were well established. I wonder how she (and the others) fared in The Hobbit films? ;)
