I just stumbled across an interview on the BBC website with JRRT. (It has probably already been posted years ago, but never mind :-) https://www.bbc.com/...he-lord-of-the-rings

But I'm so glad you brought it to us again. I'd forgotten about it... and it explains so much. We all have this final "earthly" chapter in our lives. As I've gotten older the impact, meaning, or inspiration it brings ebbs and flows. For the inspiration it brought to Professor Tolkien who gave us Middle-earth and his stories... I'm profoundly grateful. It has been a HUGE grounding to my life :)

for me. I can honestly say that Tolkien's works did save my life. (When I was 15 we moved to another country, I didn't like the people, I didn't like the place – I would have been on the verge of ending it all, but then I had LOTR and Sil to hold on to :-) And it turned out to be the funkiest place on earth … Thanks Paris, thanks JRRT

Tolkien's stories really do have a life of their own... and I'm SO HAPPY you found him. Wow... I was isolated, too. The stories really are a lifeline!
