It sounds like he's hurt his arms.

Poor guy! [In reply to] Can't Post

I just googled and it seems that his team has already put out a statement saying he will make a full recovery and be back on the stage this week. Hope that proves true, sounds scary!

A fall at any age is scary, [In reply to] Can't Post

especially when you expect a hard surface beneath your foot and ... nup. (And falling into the orchestra pit - eep!)

I banged my knee badly last year when I was getting into a jetboat and didn't notice the gap between the jetty and the boat. When you step onto air there's a moment of, "Oh no, how bad is this going to be?"

I'm glad he'll be back at work so quickly!

I saw that play [In reply to] Can't Post

A couple of months or so ago. It was an combination of henry 4ths part one and two. I happen to like a bit of shakespeare as well as Tolkien. Though not everyone thinks its a good combination to like, but oh well. Only thing is though is that one of the main characheristics of Falstaff is that he is a bit of a tubby fellow. Which Mckellan isn't. I have thought he should really have played Henry 4th himself a bit aloof and not getting on too well with his eon Hal the future Henry 5th. Although they kind of reconcille at the end. Pleased hes ok, though. And in that case at least McKellan can claim to have played someone who really existed!

Oh no! That's very scary [In reply to] Can't Post

Hopefully his recovery is swift and full.

I saw that yesterday as well [In reply to] Can't Post

It's really scary! I'm glad he is in good spirits and they said he will make a speedy recovery!

"Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Lúthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed."

Thankfully, he's told he'll make a full recovery [In reply to] Can't Post

And the drs said it would be speedy. The production said they look forward to his return and the performances will resume now... though, I'm sure, with a sub. His wrist was broken but should mend well... plus some injury to his arms. I'm sure bruises, etc. They say part of his costume was that he was wearing a "fat suit" that must have cushioned him from worse injury. Reflex when you fall is to catch yourself, which sounds like what he did. It's terrifying to have a fall like that; but it really is a miracle he wasn't injured even worse. Also, enough time has passed that anything else would have surfaced by now. Bless him... he's as tough as Gandalf STILL!

Here's his message:

Quote
“I want to thank everyone for their kind messages and support. Since the accident, during a performance of Player Kings last night, my injuries have been diagnosed and treated by a series of experts, specialists and nurses working for the National Health Service. To them, of course, I am hugely indebted. They have assured me that my recovery will be complete and speedy and I am looking forward to returning to work.”
