It's that time of year again where those of us lucky enough to get tickets or volunteer at SDCC look forward to mooting with fellow TORnSibs in July, and attending a Tolkien panel or two. :) Curious to see how many of you will be attending this year? As well as the results from Hotelpocalypse, of course! My 3 friends and I all managed to get 4-days passes plus preview night for the first time in YEARS, but then got nothing from our hotel list in the first round. So, now we wait to see who double-booked with their friends and what frees up in time for round two in May. I still don't understand why they don't tie these two things together, unless they are hoping that people turn in their passes because they can't get a hotel. I used to live/work in San Diego, so I always have friends that will give me a place to stay, but I know others aren't so lucky. Anyway, I hope to see you there! Tamara

Alas, San Diego is way too far away for me but I'd love to see a report (and pics) from ComicCon, especially about the Tolkien panels. Would you be up for that?
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak. No guarantees on getting in given the size of the rooms the past few years. Cons always underestimate the interest in the Tolkien panels. :/

I've never been to a Con before (just not really my scene, in all honesty), but like to see photos of all the impressive homemade costumes. Hope you have a great time, though!

Hello Tamara! I pretty much NEVER go to SDCC, but this year I shall be there! Would be lovely to see you there! I fly in on Wednesday and leave again Sunday morning. Not sure yet of my time commitments (for Prime Video events) but it would be so nice to catch up!

I would love to catch up with one of my fave Boston TornSibs! :) Can you believe it's been almost 10 YEARS since I moved to Los Angeles? I'll be arriving on Tuesday, and leaving the following Monday. My friend and I did get a hotel in the second round of offerings, but we're pretty far out on the shuttle route. Still, at least we have one hotel for the whole trip! :) Keep me posted how your schedule looks and let's make sure we grab drinks together, at minimum! :)

I have been going to SDCC every year that it has been open since 2015. And I will be in attendance this year. One of my primary goals will be to see the RINGS of power panel in Hall H. I was trying to understand the process of obtaining tickets for the Venue 808. Last year I tried to get tickets to the party from theonering.net But I was slow to understand the process. Any help or advise would be lovely!
