He's obviously an excellent teacher! Good to hear that the follow-up surgery will be a minor one. Just a small recovery time expected? You're moving right along with that apartment! And yes, puzzles are just the thing for rainy days. I'll be working on them tomorrow...

It certainly does look like Batman from behind, doesn't it! Uh-huh, that guy's one million viewers just saw him taken away by the police, he must pull a lot of "amusing" stunts like that which provide pure entertainment. Glad you had an excellent trip (and can speak French)!

I guess I didn't think of Alaska as a place that has mosquito hordes, but that makes sense now that you say it. We've been keeping windows closed more than we'd like given the cooler weather, but it's better than having mosquitos buzzing around indoors as if they own the place. The funny thing is that I'll probably get bitten every other day back home, so all the fussing here will likely be a waste of time in the end. Yes, the kimonos seemed to be a big hit! It's funny knowing how kids can sometimes react to gifts like that: you're really getting it for them years later, when they're young adults themselves, becoming curious about their childhoods and want to see old photos. Then it's like they've received it once again. Thanks! I haven't been back home during autumn in several years, so it'll be a nice change of pace.

I'm sure you're savoring every minute of it. *raises glass to your uncle* And it must be beautiful at Big Bear this time of year, especially with all the rain we've had! Sending you all the best autumnal weather for memory-making and reminiscing. Cheers and happy last week in SoCal! I'll wave at you from above while I'm flying overhead this weekend.

We've had some of that lately, where it's one near disaster after another. Hoping you get a long respite soon and can soon brag about how beautiful the weather's been there! Happy weekend, despite the time change.

Sorry to hear you have a follow-up surgery coming, but glad it's only a nuisance! Hopefully your imminent crop can be a nice distraction in the meantime. Happy belated to your dad. Have a good weekend!

My girlfriend seems to be more of a mosquito magnet, so I'll have to suggest that one. (I'm getting itchy just thinking of those bites!) Thank you! I'm not planning to go home for the holidays, so it'll be refreshing to travel there during what I hope is a much calmer time of year.

Yes, hoping it's not an "out of the frying pan, into the fire" situation with the bugs, lol. They did indeed! And thankfully they fit pretty well. Are you in the eventual path of that new storm coming up through the Carolinas? Also, I misread your other post initially and thought you said your ladies night *was* attending your friend's hip replacement surgery - I thought, "wow, very dedicated friends but an interesting way to party!" Hope it does go well and you do enjoy yourselves in lightening her spirits, though!

been on a short break into Wales. Wildly varying weather, even over a couple of days! An old friend in Alaska sent me an Iditarod calendar one year; I'm in awe of what those mushers and their teams can achieve.

it probably didn't come out in the UK but just about anything can be had on dvd, it seems. Haha, the weather... yesterday I was in Anglesey, being battered by ridiculously high winds and intermittent rain; today, I was basking on the harbourside at Conwy in the sun! You just never know what will happen next.

so when he and the sled went base over apex, so did the camera viewpoint. Eek! As for quilting,I'm planning on doing three Christmas tree hangings, one for my daughter, two for friends. They'll have twelve 'triangle' trees on each, three across and four down, all different fabrics with different little tree trunks. Not too much actual quilting involved, more straightforward patchwork. Fabrics are all chosen, now comes the hard part - cutting them all out so they match properly! Can't just do repeat motifs as they're all different.
