Bombur Can't Post

It is this Tolkien lover's opinion that Bombur was highly underused in the trilogy. He wasn't a central character in the books, but the fact that PJ.& co. decided to not include Bombur falling into the black river in Mirkwood, thus forcing the others to carry him out, is a darn sin and missed opportunity.

I would have loved to see more of Bombur's personality come through the films. Especially in his philosophy of survival and courage. After all, he's one of the few who escaped death by the time of the Lord of the Rings, and although he was carried around due to his insane weight, he was living large and in charge!

Extended Edition [In reply to] Can't Post

It's been several years, but IIRC, wasn't that depicted in the extended edition?

Figured why not pop in the movie to confirm, and indeed that scene is depicted in the extended edition, at the 34 minute mark.
