I'm in that nice fiery bit right in the middle. It's so dry - humidity 36% and blasting sun. Outside bad. Crazy
Plus there's a marine heatwave too.

so no drinks or snacks for me,sadly, but I thought I'd call in anyway! Annael, on the subject of singing in French, I heard a choir sing 'Noel Nouvelet' in Chester Cathedral ages ago, and it blew me away! Gorgeous. Gramma, I wish I could get stuck into the diy like I used to, but a dodgy right shoulder and elbow mean I have to do things in small doses and sometimes can't manage them at all. Very annoying! Health problems do creep up and grab us. Hope yours aren't too serious, Kimi. Red Balrog?! Gives you wiiings... is that the same advertising slogan for the noxious brew elsewhere? If so, it's very apt. Lots of snowdrops popping up around here now; they're always cheering to see. Have the best weekend you can, people!

I'm a creature for heat but not that much heat. I wonder if there's much difference between standing in the shade and being in the water.

Do you have aircon? Or a really good breezeway with doors and windows open?

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded beggar with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Definitely no windows open [In reply to] Can't Post

Might as well turn the oven on and open the door. Laugh
My aircon has been going hard core night and day. I only wish it went below 18deg. Keeping the blinds shut so no sun comes in helps. When I went to bed last night it was still 26deg.
My local supermarket is almost out of iceblocks. Laugh

What a voice! [In reply to] Can't Post

That was a magnificent "Habanera"! Rolling those r's is not easy (I'm one of those who sometimes just can't). It sounds like you'll be singing with a sort of "soft" but pronounced r, I can just imagine all of you practicing how to create it!

How long a drive is it over the mountains to Denver? The roads must be very scenic but very twisty!

(picture me sitting here trying it)

With Italian, the very tip of the tongue. With French it's more complicated, like trying to blend the two ways of pronouncing it. Like I'm using a huffy breath to roll the tongue.

People who get degrees in vocal performance have classes in this kind of nicety! If Greendragon were around she might explain it better.

Oh, gosh! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm afraid that gothic and horror are not on my "watchable" list, although I know there are many great films in the genre! Es ist aber sehr gut that you got to see some excellent new ones.

Intersting musical selection! When the band started, for a second I thought it was Rammstein, then realized the vocalist was at the other end of the spectrum...Laugh

Well it's basically freeways all the way, but one does have to cross the Cascade Mountains in Washington, the Blue Mountains in NE Oregon, the Wasatch range east of Salt Lake, and then of course the Rockies in Colorado where you get up to over 11,000 feet. Google drive says it's 20 hours of driving from here to there. Usually takes three days (we did it once in two when we had three drivers), but only in the summer. Going in March there's a high likelihood of snow, and not just in the mountains. I'll fly thanks!

But yes, very scenic.

That is WAY too hot! But you would NOT want humidity above 50%, you'd feel like you were boiling!

For how long is this supposed to last? I've got to figure out how to box up this chill air and get it to you!

Wings? [In reply to] Can't Post

That never occurred to me when changing "Red Bull" to "Red Balrog"! Do bulls have wings? Do Balrogs have wings? Here we go again! Laugh

I've no idea where gramma gets all that energy from. I'm sure she must be sneaking a spoonful or two of chocolate ice cream now and then.

Ah, snowdrops, brightening a winter's day! Have you seen many birds around? We had a pileated woodpecker pecking away in the woods behind our house last week.

I struggle with humidity [In reply to] Can't Post

I do prefer the dry heat we get here, if I had to choose!
No change until next Weds. If it goes past 30deg again tomorrow that's four days in a row, which will be a record for us. It looks like it's definitely staying in the very high twenties until later next week. Plus it's peak fire season. There's so much dry growth around, spurred on by exceptionally wet weather in November - a month's worth of rain in three hours one day.
Meanwhile my sister in Auckland is mopping up.
And our winters are becoming milder and milder. Things have certainly changed.

Just chuck a sack of ice at me. Crazy

I heard competitive drumming [In reply to] Can't Post

from two woodpeckers when walking my daughter's dog last weekend. Usual garden visitors are house sparrows (up to 16) and one or two wood pigeons, collared doves, blackbirds, blue tits, coal tits, great tits, dunnocks, starlings, robins and so forth. I've heard a wren too, but they're very flighty and timid.

The blue tits are quite pretty, and the coal tits look like our chickadees. We think it's wrens that have been snuggling in our wreath. (They must appreciate the warmth today - it was -7F/-22C when I walked out to the paper-box this morning, an invigorating chilliness.)

The machine--hopefully--will be there by next week(end).

Give Gothic-films a go, though, they're worth it (who could not enjoy a nice set of goose-bumps?).
I've never been partial to slasher flicks--sorry, the plot usually is simply boring (with a few exemptions).

Good on your German, btw :-)

Crazy weather! [In reply to] Can't Post

That kind of humidity is so hard to get around. It's like a wind chill problem in the Winter making the temps colder than the thermometer shows... high humidity makes the Summer temps feel even higher!
I hope you get some nice biking in there during your long weekend. Maybe Ice Cream would help!! :D

Lots of turmoil and unknowns [In reply to] Can't Post

*warm hug* I suddenly saw a parallel between what you're going through health-wise and what the lands are going through. Your footing is a bit shaky, but all will be mended in time :) I know you're beautifully connected to your home and land; but that's a lot of power going on!!

I have a lot of family that have been challenged with health problems of all varieties, and they all travel for their doctors. I think having the care and attention of those you trust and believe in is more important than the convenience of someone a few miles away. My g'son has been looking for medicals to even seriously take on the care he needs... so he's spent months trying to find someone to show some interest let alone be capable of helping.

Stay safe! And I'm shooting all positive vibes (and prayers) your way :) PEACE!

NZ seems to be getting hit with all of the weather possibilities at once! I hope your area doesn't have any problems with forest fires. A little of the precipitation in other parts of the country would be a great help now... but it doesn't help the heat. STAY SAFE! I imagine it makes those days of feeling a bit of exhaustion more of a challenge.

Hang in there... and stay safe! *hugs*

I plod on....Took the bedroom curtains down and washed them today, as it was a sunny and pleasant 8C. They have creased ferociously! Maybe it was dry-clean fabric. If I can't get the creases out, I'll be making new curtains very soon, as a duvet cover pegged up in the window is not a good look. Heigh ho... any excuse to visit the bargain fabric store!
