Happy International Geek Pride Day AND Towel Day! Can't Post

For all of those who are experiencing Saturday already, anyway.

Celebrate with some comic book reading, Dungeons and Dragons, LOTR marathons or anything unconventional and unorthodox. I know I'm going to spend my day wearing Vulcan ears, playing with various action figures, watching the X-files and still getting time to complete my History project so that I can get an A on my report.

And remember, there's no need to panic when you have a towel. You might just hitch a ride from Vogons and meet Martin Free - I mean Arthur Dent. Blush
Above all, be proud about being otherwise. Smile

And the same to you! [In reply to] Can't Post

My day started with finding out what was new on TORn, as usual, where I found Tanni's Hobbit-cat project http://newboards.theonering.net/...i?post=607205#607205
which I immediately shared with like-minded friends. Thanks, Tanni! So many perfect daemons for our favorite characters and a celebration of geekiness if there ever was. But no announcement of a new Hobbit vlog. Maybe tomorrow would be a perfect time?

Next was to start an old STNG novel, Ghost Ship by Diane Carey. Do any other Star Trek fans see Eowyn in the person of Chief of Security Tasha Yar; orphaned, outwardly cool but passionately loyal to Starfleet, highly trained and ready to take on any comers? Shield maiden, indeed. (pun intended)

Then, the day nearly over, we see that TRON is on the tele. What the heck. We hadn't seen it since 1982. It was almost as intriguing as it was then.

Have fun tomorrow, y'all! And many thanks to Doug, Terry and George. Smile

I'm flying to California [In reply to] Can't Post

and would we even be able to do that if it weren't for geeks?

I think my first thanks have to go to JRR, Ursula, and Frank Herbert - I discovered them all at 15 and my life was never the same after, thank the Valar!

I didn't even know. [In reply to] Can't Post

My sister has been doing a video on Tom Bombadil. We are doing most of the filming today. So that means we are all dressed up in costumes and my sister is currently wrapped up in a towel because she just filmed herself getting pulled into the pond by Goldberry. Laugh

I read The Lord of the Flies and The Hobbit when I was eleven [In reply to] Can't Post

And it's been comic conventions and hardcover Don Quixote novels ever since. Geek has made me who am today - a towel-bearing Browncoat elf Vulcan who loves reading and doing well in school.

Enjoy your day, Annael. Farewell, wherever you fare! Till your plane reaches the journey's end.
