*gets keys, opens door* It's Friday, let's have a Fiesta!

Greetings, all and sundry, and welcome to Fiesta Friday! It is my pleasure to be your hostess today - and your pleasure to come on in, order a drink and grab a bite from the buffet, and tell us what you’ve been up to, or plan to do! It’s been hot and thunderstorm-y here in New England, so there’s simple sandwiches, lots of fruit (including fresh-from-the-field strawberries), and make-your-own sundaes. How’s the weather been in your part of the world? My youngest and her boyfriend are visiting this week from Chicago. He loves to cook, which has been very nice! This morning he made everyone cheese omelets, and hash potatoes from leftover baked potatoes from dinner a couple of nights ago. The two have spent some hours at our local “Book Barn” used-book store, picking up a couple of bagsful of books, and also hit the local candy store for their excellent fudge and of course “gummi lobsters” to take back home for the amusement of friends. *puts quarters on juke box* How about playing us a fun song today!

Lessee, it's going to be in the 80s this weekend, but today and looks like the rest of the month will be cooler. We all got out and watered our gardens early today. And then I heard a *thump* and my cat, who was out under the trees in his harness and tether, started yowling and trying to get to something. i went to investigate and sure enough there was a dazed black-headed grosbeak on the ground. I scooped him up and put him on top of my neighbor's planter, where he sat for 20 minutes and then flew away. Then I walked up to the next tier of buildings to feed a neighbor's cat and let her out (she's very old) to take a sniff of the air while I chatted with the other folks out watering. People totally disappear during the winter here, doing whatever inside, but as soon as the weather turns nice we spend a lot of time walking around and chatting. Then I went back in, had breakfast, and spent half an hour on my next Norwegian lesson. Just about to start on my next editing project. Tomorrow I am one of the presenters in a webinar on goddesses, and Sunday, the hottest day, my friends & I are going to do an early hike around a nearby lake. Our strawberries are in full swing and the raspberries are coming on. A sundae sounds like just the ticket. *plays "Ice Cream" by Blackpink + Selena Gomez* : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27h9SJcIdM0

Poor thing, did it look like a juvenile? I wonder if it bumped into a window. Usually they are just stunned by that, it's rare here that one is injured. You do have a pleasant community! Along with patio gardens, is there a common garden area? Following in the footsteps of Tolkien, learning a Scandinavian language! Does it have roots in Germanic or Slavic languages? I know you'll have fun with the webinar - and the hike! Okay, I put a link in for your song...

Oh... I hope the weather cooperates and that you all have a wonderful time! It sounds like you've started out perfectly :D We had quite a storm move through last night previewed by temps in the high 80s. The storm did bring some much more pleasant weather; but the storms have plans off and all throughout the weekend. I'm heading up north to do some more repairs and yardwork for my kiddoes... then hopefully off to visit my dear Aunt downstate during the week. It's been MONTHS and months since we share a Chinese Buffet for lunch. So we're definitely going to make it happen :D Thanks for taking such great care of us, dernwyn! HAVE OOODLES OF FUN!!! :D *grabs pbj & soda*

LOL, that's one of the things those kids wanted to do, go out to a Chinese buffet with us, I think they wanted to compare it with their favorite one in Chicago. Do give your Aunt *hugs* from us all! And how's that yard coming along? And the cabinets in the kitchen? Watch out for the raindrops, and safe travels to your family!

Norwegian is based on Old Norse. Along with Icelandic, Swedish,Faroese, and Danish, it's considered a "North Germanic" language. There are three branches of the Germanic languages: North, West (including English), and Elbe, which is the German we think of when we say German. I don't find my one year of German to be at all helpful; Norwegian is actually a lot closer to English! Especially in sentence order; none of this verb-at-the-end-of-the-sentence nonsense. There are landscaped areas around the various units, but if you mean a shared vegie garden, no. We can grow fruits & veg in pots on our patios.

Or shall I say... it found ME! Chin, neck and under the right eye. I have no idea where I came across the nasty stuff, but I'll be on the hunt for it asap! The cabinets are on hold until I have a length of days where I can tackle them properly. I tend to make a BIGGER MESS whilst "fixing" something. Plus, I have to allow for chasing those shiny objects that always pop up! I'll definitely give Auntie a hug... and you pass along the same for your kiddies! ENJOY!

That's the one thing I do not miss about having an outdoor cat. My old grey/white kitty, Wizard, was vigilant about catching birds, baby bunnies and chipmunks and leaving them on the porch to share with me :( I also had an attempted rescue of a fledgling cardinal. Mom and Dad were quite panicked. I caused them all more terror trying to move it back to the nest as it almost hurt itself trying to get away. So when it hopped to a safe place where Mom & Dad were able to still tend to it, I backed off... grateful there were no Wizards in the areaa. Hiking is always a good choice... even on those hot days (if you're ready ;). ENJOY! and have fun with your new project and presentation! PS... are you installing Charlie's catio this summer?
