Reading, writing, bowling, tennis, board games, RPGs, walking, and trying new things on whims.
First Lord of the Rings reading experience:
My mom got a boxed set with all four books (Hobbit + LOTR) for me in the 7th grade, for Christmas. I'd read some Lloyd Alexander and some other things, but I was always reluctant to read something recommended by Mom. It took about two weeks for me to get over it and start.
I loved them! I was a bit confused about some things (I read quickly, and *skipped* the songs, oh my!), but when I read them a second time, I got all the details right, and grew to love even more the ... well, the quiet power and the depth of it.
Favorite Tolkien character:
Beorn. I can't really explain why very well. He's a little odd in his motives. He seems like he just grew out of the land, a natural force amongst nature that had the wisdom of both a bear and a man.
