Howdy Fellow Travellers! I hope you are doing well now that we're deeper into the late Fall/Spring seasons. Here in the U.S. we have just celebrated the Thanksgiving Holiday where overeating is essential! HOWEVER... that means the Quest and mileage are more important to our recovery. How are you coming along on your Quest? Are you a victim to all the holidays that seem to include FOOD! Oh darn ;) Do you prepare for the oncoming gluttony with extra mileage building or do you just wing it and hope there's not too much damage to overcome ;) Whatever your approach, I'm wishing you good times! Meanwhile, here in Middle-earth, The Fellowship, Elves and I have left Edoras and the honouring of King Theoden and celebrating the friendship between Gondor and Rohan. We travelled to Helm's Deep on our way to Isengard. Legolas fulfilled his part of the earlier promise with Gimli who showed his friend the Glittering Caves of Aglarond. Next stop is Isengard and Fangorn. Take care one and all... and I'll see you on the Road! *waves fondly*

Greetings Fellow Walkers! In my neck of the woods, we are deep into holiday celebrations that will soon conclude on January 1 ... this coming Thursday!! These days are usually quite a challenge for watching calories and putting in "physical" mileage. We're covering a lot of ground travelling to and from activities that is usually done in some sort of transport ;) These past 2 weeks and all this coming week, I'm definitely getting lots of physical mileage in as I help my daughter and her son move from here to there. You never realize how much you're accumulated until you have to put it in a box and carry it somewhere ;) I'm out the door within the hour for another day's action during the 3rd day of an ice storm!! How are you coming along during this past month of activity? Do you have a plan to use the upcoming New Year to set some goals, or are you keeping to an organic plan that kind of grows as it goes ;) That's mine, fersher! Remember that every activity no matter how large or small counts toward mileage! So keep up your goals and keep on truckin'! Today I'm going to share the day's TIME post as it falls directly into the current activities for Bilbo, Gandalf, et al following the Battle of Five Armies. December 27, 2941 (S.R. 1341) 1. Bilbo, Gandalf and Beorn finally arrive at Beorn's house. (determined from text & no text) ..."Gandalf and Bilbo had come all the way back, along both edges of the Forest, to the doors of Beorn's house; and there for a while they both stayed." ...After travelling more than 480 miles from the Lonely Mountain, Gandalf and Bilbo looked forward to their winter refuge with Beorn. As they approached his home from the north, they could see smoke rising from the chimney and a warm glow from the windows. Clearly Beorn's wonderful animals knew their master was returning and had everything made ready. Hang in there... and I'll see you on the Road NEXT YEAR! :D *waves fondly*

Greetings Fellow Walkers! Welcome to January and a time of the year here in the Northern Hemi usually has something to do with a snow shovel. Much of the US is heavily involved with some beyond-frigid temps and threats to power and clear roads due to ice and snow storms. It's Winter! I'm already watching out the window for any sign of ease in the brutal stuff going on outside! However, the shovel part of the drama does mean lots of great exercise. My game I play is to see if I can hurl the next shovel-full further than the one I just did! I'm pretty good at it... unless I forget to check the direction of the wind. It's often blowing between 15 and 45 miles per hour at the height of the excitement, so I end up looking like a snow-gramma covered in white ;) How is it in your world? Remember that everything you do can be converted into mileage to keep you moving on your Quest. Even shivering counts, imho! It's tiring! ;) How are you doing on your Quest? Was it part of your New Year's Resolution? Meanwhile in Middle-earth, I'm still travelling with what remains of the Fellowship after leaving Isengard as Gimli and Legolas go to visit Fangorn. We journey on with the Elven Regal of Lorien and Rivendell to rest in the wonderfully healing Last Homely House. There was a glitch along the way. We came upon a straggly-looking pair on the road. One Saruman and Grima Wormtongue. Such a pleasant visit ;) Take care... and I'll see you on the Road! :D

Greetings Fellow Walkers! I hope you're having great chances to get some mileage in this past month. If you live in NE U.S. all along the eastern coast, you definitely had opportunities to do some serious snow-throwing! Here in Michigan... as least in my yard... the weather hasn't been too bad for February. I am VERY stoked to have already seen 3 of my 4 signs of Spring coming soon. Poor skunks need to stay away from the roads; but their plight means hibernation is winding down. Then there are the flocks of Canadian geese and grey herons flying north overhead. Finally they townies have hung the syrup-capturing buckets off the hundreds of Maple trees in town. Local Maple syrup will cover the thousands of pancakes that feed us during the Maple Syrup festival. Then the rest is bottled and sold throughout the year. The 4th sign of Spring arriving are when the Robins reclaim their territory in the yard! I usually hear their distinctive chatter and song before I see them. Meanwhile, there's still a solid month of Winter weather to use for gathering some mileage. Whether it's taking the opportunity to do some more snow shoveling, or clearing & cleaning around the house along with any other activities that will convert to miles... keep on moving! Step-by-step will get you to your goal :D Me? I'm doing a lot of all of the above. I like mixing it up :D Meanwhile in the meanwhile... the Travelers are making good time as the Elven Lords & Lady, the Wizard and the remaining Fellowship have made it to the Road to Moria as we've landed in Hollin. It's great to finally see the end of the journey beginning, but it is bitter-sweet as we know Lorien will be coming close soon and Galadriel & Celeborn will leave for their own realm. New beginnings follow so many endings. Hang in there everyone... and have a wonderful journey of your own :D *waves fondly* See you on the Road!!!

Ok so it has been an eventful few months! I got accidentally banned from the website. Finally got it sorted. I do have a question though--what happened with the rest of the maps for Middle Earth? I went to the Eowyn Challenge site and was like, "Oh, they did say they were updating it or something," but there's only two maps I can click on--the to Rivendell maps via Lotr and the Hobbit. What happened to the rest? The maple syrup festival sounds like SOOO much fun! And yummy. My goodness. Down south it's definitely getting warm, feels very nice. I was able to build a new flower bed around my front tree this weekend (kicked my own butt doing that, my legs/feet were in agony) and fill in the flower pots up front. Black petunias, fushia, dianthus, coreopsis--and my roses are already leafing very well. I will not be able to do a veggie garden this year...I left my old job and went to a new one, that pays almost $4 less. Been very hard...but at least I will have the flower beds to keep me company, and leftover wildflower seeds. If any tomatoes sprout from seed, I will count myself blessed! I honestly have no idea what my mileage is over the last five months, but I know that I have gone past Lothlorian, that's for sure. So I'm just going to say that I'm taking a respite at Lothlorian (I feel like everyone on the planet would want a respite in Lothlorian right now). And whatever mileage I get next week, I'll begin from there. I'm sure I'll find a map somewhere. :) Sorry for the long disappearance, it was not on purpose! Did anyone else see the Extended LOTR films in theater this past January? I did! I never got to see them in theater originally, so this was such a treat! It was so wonderful to see a theater packed again. Made my filmmaker heart so happy. Film still brings people together. ~Iolani
"It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And you didn't want to know the end...for how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But then you realize in the end it's just a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come! And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stuck with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. The folk in those stories a lot of chances of turnin' back only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holdin' on to something." "What are we holding onto, Sam?" "That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for!"
