Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! September 27 Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

Well... we officially passed into Fall with the Equinox and Bagginsessessss Birthday! September 22 was a very busy day! And I've been so busy that I nearly didn't get my Sept progress report posted... not to mention being hampered with the very slow action of TORn's very busy loading speed. Hopefully the poor thing will be righted soon!

Love the Equinox when the day and night are the same length. It happens again in the Spring Equinox :D That stuff is just SO COOL!

I hope you are having very good weather for any out-of-doors activity you enjoy. I'm still doing big-time yard work to include downing 3 tall threatening trees. The shortest was 48 feet tall and the largest 53 feet tall. So I'm trying to finish projects like that before it gets cold out!

How are you doing on your projects and your Quest? So long as you're feeling some satisfaction on your movement it's a WIN! Do tell on what you're up to. Around here we truly appreciate every achievement and mile earned *high five*

Here in Middle-earth, the Fellowship and I are still enjoying some down time in the peace and comfort of Minas Tirith and Edoras... then we're off for the Northern trek to Rivendell.

Hang in there... and I'll see you on the Road! *waves fondly*

Walk to Rivendell… and Beyond! 10/29/25 *sounds horn* An Announcement! [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

This will be a rather different visit as it delivers an announcement of sorts. Sadly, it looks like The Éowyn Challenge website has sailed into the West. In early September, I was checking some information on the site when I found all of the links I use showed this same message:

Not Found [CFN #0005]

After checking several sites using the Eowyn Challenge and a Google search… all of the links in each showed the site is down. So if you have been following Karen Wynn Fonstad's charts, they cannot be accessed from the site.

I have a collection of the charts that I will be setting up for us to use. I am also working with the Wayback Machine to glean any of the old site pages I can. "Watch this space" for updates on how we'll keep the campfires burning as we continue to gather together along the Road.

Having said that… how are you coming along on your Quest? The colder weather is finally settling in here in Michigan; but I'm happy to see our New Zealand friends are well into the Spring weather. What are your plans for activities to gather your mileage?

Here in Middle-earth, the Fellowship and I are travelling from Minas Tirith to Edoras in honour of King Theoden as we return his remains to his beloved realm.

Take care, Walkers! I'll see you on the Road! :D

Back Again ~ [In reply to] Can't Post

Oh my GOD what a couple months it has been. I hope the website gets fixed soon! I also noticed that I could no longer enter my steps into the website like I used to be able to years ago, but assumed I was either in the wrong area or the website had just changed. How was y'all's Halloween and Thanksgiving? Mine were very blessed, I got to spend them with loved ones. The upside of this new job is I have a standard schedule and I'm off on weekends, so that helps with planning with folks!

My exercise has been crappy though. I've been either working or doordashing for extra money, so I'm not really exercising. Hopefully I won't have to work DoorDash much longer and I can start prioritzing walks/going to the gym.

Here's my mileage though! I was able to dig back through the past couple months and get it.

Miles: 126.44
Miles left to Lothlorian: 39. 26

Whoop whoop!

I'm enjoying the cooler weather, even though watching the garden die always sucks a little bit--although I am enjoying less work in that regard. I'm struggling a bit at work--the training program that I've been doing was going well for awhile, but the final stretch has been a challenge. I was told that I'd have a job regardless if I passed or not, but then found out the other day that that is no longer the case. However I get one more chance to pass my test, so hopefully I'll do just fine next time around. I worked too hard to land this job!

And hopefully this coming week I'll be better about posting!

Happy Holidays!

"It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And you didn't want to know the end...for how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But then you realize in the end it's just a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come! And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stuck with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. The folk in those stories a lot of chances of turnin' back only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holdin' on to something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for!"
