Filming for season 3 has wrapped, reportedly ahead of schedule. The most commonly discussed premiere date is Thursday, September 3, 2026. That would be consistent with Seasons 1 and 2 and leave 10+ months for post-production.

Putting the series finale sometime in 2030-2031 and elves looking unnaturally older in just a few short years during a five-season show. I guess Avatar beats that, but do we really have to consider our own lifespan to watch a complete series now?

Farewell, principal photography; greetings pick-up shots. I imagine that there will be pick ups at some point.

It looks possible that we will have another House of the Dragon + Rings of Power aligned release schedule. Or at the least, one right into another, give or take.

Really looking forward to getting back into the story!

But man if this is not a brisker shoot: around five months instead of the usual eight. I guess there was an expectation from the higher ups that, over two seasons into the thing and with an unforseen and spendthrifty shift in shooting location, that they should be able to turn this around faster. We'll see if that resutls in a "quick and dirty" feel to the finished piece. To be fair, the material for this season might be less spectacular and more "filler"-y in nature, so it could be an easier one to pull off.

Most of you have probably seen the recent Fellowship of the Fans video in which they say that in Season 3: -The main battle(s) will take place in Numenor between the King’s Men and the Faithful. -Elrond and Gil-Galad will go to Numenor to request aid. -There will be a scene between Cirdan and Miriel. -Robert Aramayo will play Elros. A lot of that seems Numenor-centric. I’d like to see the primary focus of RoP remain the Rings and the Ringbearers. Though RoP has made me much more engaged with Numenor than I ever was before but, at least in the context of RoP, for me it’s part of the Ring story. Isn’t Cirdan expected to have a larger role in S3? If so, like Celibrimbor, he was introduced in a fairly minor role in one season and then will have that greater presence when it’s required. Also good news. Presumably we'll see the Dwarves, Pelargir and Gandalf and but I'm really hoping that the Harfoots will not be forgotten. I'm looking forward to wherever RoP takes us.

I'm going to jump in here and take the opportunity to say one more time how completely mind blowing and amazing the music in this show is. I was listening to the Season One score again over the weekend and the Numenor track came on and brought me to tears. It's so perfect for how I've imagined Numenor. The music is such a highlight to this whole show. So so good.
