It's a killer hot rod that was reputed to kill as many of its own pilots as the enemies it shot down. How lucky are you!? Thanks for the great pics. I always show them to B.G. being ex-NZ Airforce, and he always smiles. He's still totally into everything military, including planes from the Wright brothers to the latest stealth technology. I can see how it would be addictive in a good way.

A bit of a nail-biter, especially at the half. But, the All Blacks pulled it our, and looked better than they have in a while. But, yes, they'll be hard-pressed to duplicate anything like the Richie McCaw days. My semi-successful approach when the boards get slow is to switch browsers. I normally use Firefox to post here, as I'm lazy and like the Advanced Editor. But, if I switch to Chrome, things speed up even if I switch back to FFox. The real solution is for me to get back to researching new boards, which means I need to kick my rear out of the 'denial' phase.

A few years ago we replaced out old furnace/AC with a newer, 'smarter' version which switches between heat and AC automatically based on pre-set temperature ranges. We like to call this its bi-polar phase (this, and the winter/summer transition), lol. It frantically switches between heating in the early a.m. hours to full AC in the afternoon. That makes my favorite posi next to one of the living room vents interesting to navigate throughout the day! So yes, good luck navigating that transition! the meantime, it sounds like both humans and sheep are well-fed.

I have always thought of John Philip Sousa as being one of the strongest creators of the patriotic and endearing American persona. I love the story of how he even included the love of baseball in the soup :) Good luck on your introductory notes for the community band concert :D So Cool!

It's always so impressive how seriously they take the research and reenactment of how the things they're re-creating are built and used. So authentic in their approach! Thanks for these :D

LOOKIT YOU! :D Oh man... what a ride! On so many levels!! I can imagine the noise, the torque, the shuddering, the smells, the fantastic experience of not only starting it up, but also climbing in and sitting in the cockpit! So happy you were wearing the proper headgear! ;) SURREAL and UNFORGETTABLE! I'm so thrilled you had this experience and that those who made it happen were so generous! WOW!

When it's at its tenderest and tastiest! That's too bad about the cucumbers, though - maybe put out some beer traps for the slugs?

"...she said tersely." Someone else's paper, I hope, which would make the job easier. That seems like a very rich breakfast! I've been using a base of tater tots instead of pie crust for quiche, they do add a nice texture. That was such a fitting tribute to your friend! And the song it ended with...the most poignant song ever written by John Lennon. Happy writing during MythoWriMo, giving one another that everyday "push" will be fun for all of you!

We've had no success at all with beer traps. Once the weather turns hot and dry they're not quite so destructive, but every spring it's a battle trying to get the more succulent plants established at what would otherwise be the best time for them. Fortunately, tomato plants are not at all tasty! Every setting has its advantages and disadvantages, of course. Our mild climate makes some things much easier, but it does mean the pests (and weeds) are active year-round.

One of our crowd managedt to get this one into our school magazine: "If we take the empirical view," said David humanely . . . Only those of us taking the honors senior humanities class where we studied the philosophers got that one!

A Tom Swifty is a pun + an adverb. "I'm going up to the attic," said Tom loftily. If you use a verb instead it's a croaker. "I'm not sure I can get this sewing done today," she hemmed and hawed.

That would be quite the day though, soccer into family bingo. Will post my thoughts in the "watching" thread! Really loved it though. Sending luck to the Sox, and thanks! The Yankees have looked pretty good lately, so that'll be a fun series. Thank you! Sounds like Autumn has kicked in for you as well with the rain.

That those kinds of statements were called "croakers", and the difference between them and Swifties. So mine should have been: "So, 'twas an esoteric statement", she said, enigmatically. Or something like that... Thanks!

Definitely waiting (SURPRISE :) for the Bot-Be-Gone to do their thing. *sigh* My daughter also says there's some kind of Solar upheaval going on over the past several days that is disrupting satellite signals, etc. Let's blame the Sun on this one :D I'm so happy to hear you're taking time off with the family instead of going for medical stuff. Definitely a well-deserved vacation time even if the teams aren't at their best. True fans and believers stick around even during the times of team growth ;) I hope you have a wonderful trip! *hugs*

I'm so happy you were able to be there. Truly a bitter-sweet celebration done right. I want some of them taters & eggs! Started salivating straight-away! *wipes chin* 65 pages down to 40!? I'm very wordy and even I am smiling at that. Brings to my mind's eye your climbing some of those challenging paths in the mountains! I've taken to opening 2 TORn pages for posting. I click on one to start opening a page/reply and move to the 2nd to continue replying to another sib's post. Makes the waiting and wondering a little less sleepy ;) Have a wonderful week, m'Dear!
