I managed to not throw my computer out the window after work on Friday, which is why I'm able to post here, lol. Yeah, one of those weeks, except way, way worse. Maybe my worst at this company. Our CEO kept dumping these insanely impossible tasks on me one after another that needed instant turnaround amid a billion other things going on, and I had that feeling of slowly drowning and no one being there to save me. The sad thing is that it's all there waiting to resume again next week, and probably find a way to be even worse. I know I've had lots of ups and downs at this company, and it's clear to anyone in my ZIP code that I've got to get out of there ASAP. It's just unfortunate that getting a new job - any job - in this market feels like trying to get into an Ivy League school (or maybe even tougher). Ok, end rant. I'm trying to really enjoy myself this weekend and be present in whatever we're doing. We've agreed to go on a day trip on Monday (a holiday in the US) - just get in the car and go somewhere new. Wishing everyone else a very happy weekend! And enjoy the home improvement projects, Altaira!

The soup sounds lovely, but I hope you treat yourself to something extra special soon once you're over the cold. And it's great to hear the people there were wonderful. Sending lots of support as you settle back in at home - and that the squalls stay away for awhile to give you some more sunshine!

There was a bit of monsoonal moisture in place the last few days (I'll never forget the August tropical storm from a couple of years ago), but I think that's mostly moved on so back to the usual summer weather programming.

I saw something online about the Milford Road being closed due to heavy snow. A shame for those who were hoping to get down to Milford Sound, but I suppose that means some other lucky person might be treated to an incredible water show in a few days if some of the snow melts off down the mountains. Edit; Eek ok maybe not, looks like cold and rain and snow there the next few days.

I'm getting the impression that whenever someone leaves that place, they're not being replaced, and more gets dumped on you... An awful thought: is it too late to "jump ship" on that particular career and take on something entirely new? Meanwhile, get out and get away, give yourself a good mental break! *hugs*

about that pottery, while chatting with the gal working with me and the head of our Historical Society. It was a bowl for keeping yarn balls separate while working with them: the balls are placed in the center beneath a slight overhang, and are threaded up through several small holes, which prevents them from tangling. Yesterday went well and some odd large items were sold. The tag sales continue today, but I've got an afternoon "date" with hubby and son to try out a new board game he picked up - "Vantage". And it's supposed to be a pleasant Monday holiday here, I hope yours is also!

we have docents to give you a tour of the house! There's also an old one-room schoolhouse on the grounds, probably only 150 years old. Hubby's done some "teaching" at it for school groups - ooh, the kids are appalled by the formality of those days!

I remember my brother talking to me about forward swept wings and his hopes that they would be able to develop some thing along that line. But from the rest of his post, I think he had already been scrapped quite a while ago. I shall tell him that you actually saw one taxiing in! He'll be thrilled. He may even want to get in touch with you, about obscure planes or what not (he was a blackbird enthusiast, beginning in high school) so me know if that's OK or not. I could let you know by private message here. But he's busy with his middle school age twins, so who knows . . .

one time saying to my manager, "Sure I can take that on, but something else will need to be removed from my list of jobs to make it possible. Which one do you want to reassign?" It didn't work for me, unfortunately, but maybe it's a play that you could use? At the least, it'd reinforce to your boss that the workload is impossible and, as your boss, he needs to do something to look after your welfare. Best of luck to you, cats.

RATS! It's literally still August (for a few more hours) so what in Gandy's Beard is going on with that!? The grass is growing slower, too. *sigh* It's too soon! However, I have just done the first of two Pickle's Pen spray with lemon dish soap. I use a hose attachment for spraying fertilizer, etc. to drench the grass and grounds with LEMON dish soap to kill off fleas and ticks that are getting active. I've done this the end of August and a couple of weeks into September for the past 15ish years and haven't found any fleas on my pups since. I hear ya, Altaira, about spotting stuff when you're really only interested in addressing one project. I have a young sycamore tree to plant in my back yard; but I have to make a spot for it first. So a 1-hour task becomes a day-long onslaught ;) We're having WONDERFUL weather in the mid to high 70s... so I'm not minding the outside stuff at all! I hope all who indulge have a wonderful holiday weekend! I'm going back outside ;) Thanks for taking such great care of us, Altaira :D

You have been on my mind SO MUCH! Blasting away with prayers and positive vibes. I'm glad you're past all of that stuff. It's not surprising you caught a cold with yourself getting the full treatment. Now that you're home with your own hearty soup, you'll mend quite nicely. I hope you have some days off before you have to go back to work! You're still getting covered by your gramma until the final thumbs-up appears *raises glass* Here's to home and health :D *hugs*

That tag sale is something I could spend DAYS going through! *slaver, slurp* So Wonderful! We had the bi-annual massive flea market at the Amish farm about 25 miles north of me. They turn one of their fields into a massive market where vendors put out their treasures, junk and creations. It's SO MUCH FUN! I took my g'son with me as he was on the hunt for an old vhs video camera. He's been searching for a year. He went his way and I went mine. He's 26yo and autistic; but he's very good in situations like this. After 2 hours of walking up and down the long lanes of vendors (still didn't finish all of them), he was SO EXCITED to finally find one! He paid $40 for the case, camera, charger, batteries, etc. It worked when they tested it. He was giddy with delight! Sadly, we can't get it to work. Crash and burn is the best description; but they're still working on it. Have a great time with the sales! :D

I've found when bosses do that stuff, it due to some failure on their part. Anticipating, clean-up on isle 4, BUSTED, or just plain clueless. Hang in there! Something will fall into place one way or another :) But be sure to anchor down your computer... just in case ;)

Wishing you a "mild" case, and a rapid recovery. I'm sure you'll do all the right things, like resting. It's [carefully keeping my language mild] hugely disappointing, though. I thought it was bad enough when Mr Kimi's sister recently caught Covid (she, too, had been Novid) when she was in hospital after a nasty fall - but to catch it at a *cancer* centre, with so many immuno-compromised people around, is just too much. You're now due some seriously good luck for the remainder of the year!

and the general notion of them being utterly clueless on how to manage people and what a reasonable amount of work is. Oh I'd certainly love to, I guess it's mostly the scare factor of how long it'd likely take to find another job - even just a bridge job - from a financial perspective. It's such a strong employer's market now that people I know who have been looking for sometime keep cautioning me not to quit unless it's truly the only/final option. Thank you!

The schoolhouse had been located across the road and a short distance away. The first school at that site was built in 1734, and replaced in 1803. It was used until 1922, given to the Historical Society in 1926, and in 1931 moved to its current place for preservation and safekeeping. Isn't history fun?
