Now on to November! Smart thinking to get their gift already. It sounds perfect that you can stow it away and snag when needed. A two-holer, eh? Sweeeeet! No pumpkins showing yet? They better get a hustle on, or people will mistaken them for peaches ;) I hope you have a GREAT weekend and are enjoying the nicer weather.

We spent most of yesterday in the Emergency Room at Buffalo General Hospital. Missus-sempai was having some concerting symptoms that needed to be checked out. She's fine, but our wait was complicated by the tour bus rollover on Interstate-90. We arrived before 11:00 am and didn't get home until around 3 am. Even if we'd gotten in and out reasonably quickly, the accident would have kept us from family matters taking place in Akron, NY.

I'm glad the missus is okay! I can imagine how swamped that ER was, with injuries of all sorts. I looked up articles about the crash - horrible!

of a book when one finds errors like that. Sometimes I've wondered if the publishers would issue corrected editions, if someone sent in all the mistakes they've found. I've read that there's something about extra sugars, especially the high-fructose corn syrup, that causes the body to want to eat more. Subtle addiction! The diet excludes butter, but does it allow oils for cooking?

is a bit of what my old dad would have called a "fiddle-faddle". Mr Kimi only makes it occasionally, when the spirit moves him. Like you, we buy brioche-style loaves for making French Toast (which is a regular weekend treat for us). It's so nice keeping watch for the next blossom break-outs!

and ghee. I made some, but it has none of the butter flavor so I only use it for high-heat cooking.

For some reason I've never "taken" to pasta salads, despite liking the individual elements. The big caveat there being it would've usually been a homemade one at a family gathering, so perhaps I just didn't like how X person made theirs, lol. I should give it another try, or perhaps make one myself! And thanks, hope you had a nice one too!

I'm glad she's ok, but those scary nights are exhausting and stressful, even when all's well in the end. Hope you were able to catch up on sleep since then.

We got some good time in at the mall this weekend, to soak up the free A/C. And glad to hear Coffey is ok! Poor Pickle just about exhausted himself trying to get your attention, it sounds like. Never a dull day with pets around!

Thankfully it will be a short-lived heater; but still... How "cool" that your jobs have come in such a merciful way. Especially for this time of the year when you're going to want to get some nice hikes and open markets in your days :) I love the description of your burrowesque home. Literally a part of the land :D

Thankfully Missus is doing okay; but it must have been so hard to not be able to rest while waiting concerned for her health. 3am... wow. I'm glad you were able to be with her. That bus roll-over was all over the news here in Michigan. Horrific... so, so sad. It also had to be hard to be in the waiting room with concerned family & friends of those passengers. Hopefully Missus is on the mend and comfortable.

They're driving through Kentucky even as I write this.

hope there's some peach cobbler left...~slurp~ Was looking after the family dog for almost a week while daughter and family went camping with friends and just got side-tracked. He derails my routine totally! It'sl ovely having him to stay, but I'm always glad to hand him back... Haven't read all the posts yet, will do that now. Cheers!

I dabbled in local panto for a while until it got a bit much; I was writing song words, painting scenery, making costumes and playing various minor roles around a full-time job and single parenting. My high point was playing Donna Juanita from the sunny Spanish Island of Cor Phew, in Dick Whittington (don't ask...)

Hats off to Pickle for doing his best to alert you! He must have been swearing at you in Dog to get you to pay attention... Reminds me of the time years ago when, in summer with the kitchen door open, (bear in mind my neighbours are within coughing distance) I heard a rustle and saw a ferret peering out from behind my fridge! I can't remember now how I apprehended it (a large towel was probably involved), but it's not often you get the chance to write your neigbour (who was out) a note saying, 'Ferret in greenhouse. Please collect.' Those were the days...

I'm currently re-reading Edward Rutherfurd's "London", and just finished the section which entwines Richard Whittington with the story's fictional families.
