Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! July 10 Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

I hope you're having great adventures and satisfying personal achievements as we come to the mid-summer or mid-winter month of July! Any way you look at it, we're at a mid-way in our calendars... which (in my OCD mind) cries out for some kind of acknowledgement. DONE! :D Now... to move on...

How are you doing on your Quest? Do you have a particular goal, or are you a free-spirit who moves forward where fate directs you? That's kind of my approach. Mostly because any plans I make get pulled off course by that fickle finger of fate! However, I find that journey is a lot more exciting or challenging and so often with more satisfying results!

So... how ya doin'? Feel free to share as you're among Fellow Walkers who understand the fun of being on a Quest :D

Things are also chugging along in Middle-earth. I've hitched a ride with the Captains of the West, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas and a now complete set of hobbits! We're making our way from Ithilien to Minas Tirith as we approach Osgiliath. Let's just say this is a much merrier journey than when we last travelled these lands :)

*waves fondly* Stay safe... have a good time... and I'll see you on the Road!

I am terrible. Been a month again! [In reply to] Can't Post

I can't believe that it's been almost a whole month since I've posted, again! I am just running behind on everything. Lots been happening, but still. I am currently ill, so my chores and yard work is a bit behind too. Still, work being work I still got a lot of mileage, because we're in the middle of inventory prep and we are being worked ragged. On that note, both my therapist and my doctor agree with me that I need another job. And fortunately, this job that I have been gunning for for months opened up again, at a place where my bf works, so hopefully I'll get it and I can leave this hellhole! Screw retail. The only upside is the step count. Laugh

Anyway, the garden is doing fantastic still. Something trampled some of my flowers, but I think my cats got in a fight with a neighbors' cat. Still harvesting a lot of peppers, about to harvest a lot more tomatoes again, and my lilies and gladiolas are blooming. As well as my morning glories and cucumbers! So excited for the cucumbers. I've also harvested lavender and mint for homemade tea! It's delicious! You really can't beat fresh.

Here's my mileage:
Miles since my last post, as of the 17th: 80.14
Miles from Rivendell to Lothlorian left: 321.48

Haven't been able to go on any walks, but I'm averaging 4 miles a day at work so there's that. Hopefully once I'm well I can go on another neighborhood walk, and not be bothered by any Black Riders this time! :) Hope everyone is well, enjoying the season, and their own journeys! Can't believe the year is half gone already!

"It's like in the great stories Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were. And you didn't want to know the end...for how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But then you realize in the end it's just a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come! And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stuck with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. The folk in those stories a lot of chances of turnin' back only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holdin' on to something."
"What are we holding onto, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it's worth fighting for!"

You're doing great! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sorry you're not feeling well... which is NOT GREAT! Especially in the summer when there's so much going on. Well Done on the gardening :D Doesn't it figure that whatever is plowing down your flowers can't do it elsewhere! I mean... they've got the whole yard! Stay off the treasures!

I agree with you on the retail woes. Yes, the mileage is awesome; but the wear and tear on you every day takes a toll... and makes it harder to get over health issues.

I also lose track of TIME with all the distractions every-day life throws in our way! Here's hoping VERY MUCH you get that job where your bf works!! *crosses fingers*

Hang in there and keep on keeping on! You really are doing GREAT! :D *high five*

Thanks gramma! [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the kind words! Fortunately my boss was kind enough to change my opening time tomorrow from 5:30 to later. I feel like all I am doing is sleeping and taking medicine.

On a good note I harvested a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT of banana peppers, jalapenos, haberneros, dill, thyme, sage, and thai peppers today. Got a large bowl's worth!

Here's my mileage since the 17th:

Mileage: 20.95
Miles left to Lothlorian: 300.93

Happy journeys everyone!

Walk to Rivendell... and Beyond! August 14 [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Fellow Walkers!

I hope you are doing well and are having loads of satisfaction and fun on your Quest :) Those of us dwelling in the Northern Hemi are deep into the hot summer months; while those in the Southern Hemi are approaching Spring and a break from the cold Winter. *tosses confetti* :D

Each season gives us loads of activities that can be converted into miles that move you on down the Road! Whether you venture with the Fellowship following the Eowyn Challenge Site Charts or strike out on your own adventure... every movement and step counts!

So what is your target? How are you marking your miles?

A lot has gone on in Middle-earth since my last post. The Captains of the West and all of us in tow from Ithilien to Minas Tirith have been very busy, but not putting on many miles. Aragorn was crowned King Elessar and got himself married! After much tree-planting, partying, pledging, job transferring and troubling bird-watching... most of the same Company that just got back to Minas Tirith and some new-comers are travelling to Rohan to take home and honour fallen King Theoden.

Take care! And I'll see you on the Road! :D

I feel like I have battled a Balrog [In reply to] Can't Post

These past few weeks have given me a beating. I'm sure anyone who works in retail can verify that conditions are getting worse, but these last few weeks at my job have been for inventory prep, and then actual inventory week. We had a horrible storm with hail on the first day, and it collapsed a lot of my biggest flowers. AND IT HAS BEEN HOT. And our ac is not working properly. Could be worse, but man do I look forward to it getting back up to snuff. Between my doctor and my therapist we agreed that I need a new job, so I put in my informal resignation a week ago. I swear, corporations are trying to kill us with these workloads.

Fortunately I am still harvesting, still getting tomatoes, different peppers, herbs, and finally cucumbers though! I replaced some of my flowers, hopefully they will do alright. I might have a bite on a better job as well, so please keep me in your prayers!

Here's my mileage for the past three weeks:

83.63 miles
217.3 miles from Lothlorian

Good luck, my fellow travelers! I hope all of us are keeping the Light of Earendil close to heart nowadays. News from around the world, and in my own country, weighs on my spirit.
