This is a match made in genre heaven — Jamie Campbell Bower, star of Netflix’s blockbuster supernatural drama Stranger Things, is joining one of biggest fantasy franchises of all time. Bowler has been tapped as a series regular for the upcoming third season of Prime Video’s Lord Of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Additionally, Ray Donovan alum Eddie Marsan is set to recur on the new season, which is currently in pre-production.
As usual, details about the role are being kept under wraps but I hear Bower plays Rings of Power’s biggest new cast addition, a character described as a handsome high-born knight (code name Arlen) in casting information that has been circulated around. He could be a new love interest for Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) who spent the second season facing the reality of her Season 1 love interest Halbrand’s (Charlie Vickers) true identity as arch-villain Sauron...
...Not much is known about Marsan’s character either (code name Dromm) besides the fact that he has a brother. Since the role reportedly required Scottish accent, the English actor could presumably be playing a dwarf.

So, it seems that there's a fair chance that Bower is the show's Celeborn. Alternately, I could see him as Glorfindel or even as a Lord of Númenor. Marsan is almost certainly the brother of Durin IV. But what other ideas could I be missing?

...can bring a legitimate rawness and edge to his characters (I know those are overused descriptors), so I'm happy to have an excuse to see him in something new.
Given the dynamic they teased about a brother for Durin, I'd agree that seems like a good guess!

Is it just me or does it seem very likely Bower will be Celeborn? Will we finally get to see him on screen, and get an explanation for his 2 season absence?

Even the author of the original article speculates in a similar direction. And, of course, we need an explanation for where Celeborn has been this entire time, let alone Season 2.

The brother with a Scottish accent surely has to be Durin’s sibling. The only thing I've seen Marsan in Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, years ago, and I thought he was good.
Bower as Celeborn or possibly Glorfindel seem like good bets to me. From the photos, Bower could easily be an Elf. I’ve never seen him act in anything.
I look forward to learning where Celeborn has been all these centuries.

When Bower was introduced in the fourth season of Stranger Things he initially reminded me of a young Richard Thomas (The Waltons). That perception changed as we got to know his character better!

Looking at Bower, I can see him as a seemingly good character who goes to the dark side. But how likely is it that he'd put that tidbit out on Twitter? Not at all, IMO. He's just trolling,

Actually, that would play right in to my speculation about a "Lord of Númenor". It's long been thought that the Lord of the Nazgûl was a Númenórean.

In Jackson's movieverse, Galadriel is referred to as an "elf witch" by Gimli when the Fellowship enter the forest of Lórien. Is Bower just signaling us that he's scooting his throne up next to hers? 
"Bower". What an appropriate name for a forest dweller, eh?

... so it wasn't changed recently. As far as I know, he last updated it when starring in Witchboard. Reportedly, he's a big Tolkien fan, and this bio reflects that.
Even if he were playing the Witch-king, Amazon would never allow him to reveal his role so blatantly when it's meant to be a secret.
Now now Bill, you swore this was a battle between warriors, not a bunch of miss nancies, so warriors is what I brought

No surprise here. Combining aspects of the middle of the Second Age with the reign of Ar-Pharazon.
Excl: Because of the time jump, some of the Elven characters will start to have longer hair going into Season [3].
I guess Payne & McKay are tired of the heat they got for the look of the Elves up to now.
EXCLUSIVE: Jamie Campbell Bower plays a leading book 'Elf' in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3.
His code name is 'Arlen', described as a 'High-born Knight' and the biggest character cast for Season 3.
He is NOT playing Thranduil or Oropher.
So, Bower seems to be either Celeborn or Glorfindel, with Galadriel's missing husband being far more likely (IMYO).

Hopefully the showrunners will adhere more closely to the lore going forward rather than modern day aesthetics.
I've frequently made the point that Season 3 is the first real opportunity to respond to Season 1 and 2 criticism because Season 1 was done and Season 2 mostly written before airing of Season 1. So if there's any optimism to be had, your hope might be realized. That said, Executive Producer Lindsey Weber's essential mission statement ("It felt only natural to us that an adaptation of Tolkien’s work would reflect what the world actually looks like") renders such optimism as laughable wishful thinking. The artist's ego is a powerful thing to overcome.
