They're excellent shredded and tossed into breads, makes them so moist! My own standard recipe is simmering sliced zukes, summer squash, and sweet onions together, until tender - trying out different herbs for flavoring. Hubby remembers his mom making stuffed zucchini, but I'm not sure what the stuffing was, probably hamburger and rice.
Best of luck with the paleo diet! Can you have fruits?

I'm glad you could find something similar to the places in your mind, she'll have fun working those into her own "kopfkino" when she reads your books again!
My sympathies for Mr Kimi having to have a tooth out, one wonders why they're called "wisdom" when they can cause so much trouble. But he's obviously recovered nicely!

It is a VERY good thing you were able to stay indoors if your temp hit 100!!! OUCH! We only got to 97 today here in Michigan ;) And dry, dry, dry. I can hear the corn crops growing around me whimpering for a drink.
Actually, I drove my daughter north about 1.5 hrs for an appointment today and we were hit with some BIG TIME, blinding rain squalls! They lasted about 10-15 mins, then sunshine. Then another hit of thunder, lightening and rain... then sunshine. Gotta love Michigan :D SUV hobbity finally got washed!
Been doing lot of running for appts and errands, but this weekend should hopefully be quiet. I think I'll grab some pink lemonade and a hot dog from the buffet if there's any left :D

I can have anything that's not refined sugar or other sweeteners, dairy, grains, or bread. So I start off with a coconut water-fruit smoothie. My treat in the afternoon--when I most want something sweet--is apple slices with almond butter. Otherwise every meal is a LOT of vegies plus something proteinaceous. Mostly poultry or fish.
My hardest adjustment really is my morning cuppa without milk.

I love 'em! A major reason why I traveled across the country for research for my novel was to get to see the interior of the house where the family lived, to understand the layout, what doors they used, etc. I've spent hours trying to figure out the layout of Thornyhold from Mary Stewart's eponymous novel, as well as the layout of various manors in British murder mysteries. So I understand your fan's desire for one!

by English standards anyway... High 20sC are forecast. That'll be me watering the garden again, then... Fortunately, just my own; at one point in the last couple of weeks i was looking after two friends' gardens as well as my own. It's the holiday season, especially for those with children in school. In England parents can be fined (at the discretion of the head teacher) for taking children out of school to go on holiday during term time; does this happen in other places? Snag is, the costs go up so much when the school holidays start that some parents do it anyway because the fine's not as much as the jump in accommodation prices.
A friend and I went to an art exhibition this morning, run in aid of local charities. It's not one of those where you submit your work and it is - or isn't! - selected for display; you pay your entry fee and it's in, until they run out of display space. That means there is a VERY wide range of skill levels on display, from awesome to gruesome, which is actually quite fun and gives encouragement to those of limited or budding talent.

We're beating the squirrels 10-4.
No I haven't taken up CB radio (remember that?).
It's that in an earlier fiesta I was talking about us growing sweetcorn and being resigned to the squirrels getting some, and having to pick the moment that all the silks are brown (, silks are brown, and the squirrels grey  ) . Maybe, I thought, it would be impossible to beat the rodents to it & we'd get nothing much for our efforts except happier squirrels: good thing in the world though that woudl be [admitted through gritted teeth].
As it turned out we did have some squirrel paricipation, but kept ahead on about that 10-4 ratio.

is the big problem, how have your plants and veggies been holding up?
When hubby was teaching, he would have loved to have fined parents for taking the kids out of school before or after the holidays! But you've got a point, in order to take the holidays in the first place, costs must be taken into consideration, especially when you've got a whole family to accomodate.
What a fun exhibit, and I imagine some of the more "amateur" pieces were delightful!

It does make such a difference to be able to picture the people (real or imagined) in place.
I like to have that clear picture in my head, so that people don't move through non-existent doors or between rooms that don't actually link. And then there are things like which direction a room faces, so what quality of sunlight it would receive. They're not necessarily things that end up getting much page time, but I think readers notice, even if subconsciously, when a house's description doesn't "work".

I was going to suggest zucchini bread; but diets don't like that. I'm working with a cabbage soup 7-day diet. I got through the first 4 days and lost 1.5 lbs; but that was over 2 weeks ago. I can't get through 7 days before someone throws some corn on the cob at me, or we eat out when I take daughter on one of her out-of-town appointments. *sigh* I have no will power or impulse control. If I'm home alone, I do fine; but eve that only lasts a few days without interruption.
Green soup, eh? What broth do you use? Chicken, veggie, beer... I mean... beef? RECIPE PLEASE! :) Have a great weekend!

I never heard of a penalty for family vacation time by the schools I've been involved with (covering 4 different states). That's nuts!

that doesn't fit with the action is a bugbear. For some reason I can't get a handle on the Carpenter's house in the Dresden series - and in one of the later books, there's a major action sequence that I just can't make work no matter how closely I follow Butcher's description. I just have to let it go and have the protagonists in spots with 'permeable walls' and 'magic corners that can be seen around'.

but usually I start with chicken stock (I prefer stock to broth), saute an onion in it, then throw in whatever. Current batch has zucchini, some lancinato kale, peas, green beans, and mushrooms, because I put mushrooms in just about everything. Oh, and a few chopped up creamer potatoes to add a bit of bulk. I like thyme in mine, or italian herbs. IF I want more protein, I add some chicken.
