Movie news: Graham MacTavish is taking on a Kiwi institution - A Dog's Show Can't Post

I remember watching this show as a kid. It sounds bonkers - watching dogs manage sheep through fences and into pens - but it was rivetting. I love the idea of a film based around it - and I can just see MacTavish as a grumpy farmer. Laugh

I'm with you, Ataahua! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's amazing to watch well-trained, enthusiastic dogs managing the sheep. And they're filming around Wellington?! With MacTavish?!
Maybe I'll come out of retirement and try out for this, an extra enthusiastic character-faced spectator at the sheepdog trials in rural Aotearoa New Zealand! Slice of Heaven! Laugh

He's perfect! :D [In reply to] Can't Post

This reminds me of the old movie "Babe" about a sheep-herding pig ;) That had a gruff farmer, too.

In the past, I've had Border Collies used as brilliant herders of livestock (sheep, cattle, etc.) At one time when my Border Collie Gina was here, I also had 6 cats all indoors. She knew each cat by name ("Go find Punkin. Go find Booger, etc.). On occasion, she would try to herd cats. Seriously! It was hilarious to watch!

I can't wait to see this movie! I hope they produce it on international dvd :D

We can't have a Hobbit-adjacent movie without you as part of the scenery *somewhere*. Cool

My first Border Collie [In reply to] Can't Post

tried to herd 5 Black Labradors. They were not so much unimpressed as utterly unaware. Laugh

Re the Labs [In reply to] Can't Post

I can visualize them lying on the grass, soooo very unimpressed, gazing languidly at the determined collie. Sheep have to go through a training process, too. Wink

Actually, [In reply to] Can't Post

the dogs had just wandered in a group out of the barn at a farm where they also boarded dogs and had a bunch of their own. And Cami was just running in circles around them, but they didn't seem to be at all aware of it. Laugh
