Hey there, Patty! [In reply to] Can't Post

It's always a treat when you stop by the Fiesta celebration. Hope you and Mr. Patty are doing well. SmileHeart

Yes, as dernwyn mentioned, the TORn forums don'g need an https (secured) url because we don't sell anything, don't take any payments, and passwords are encrypted by the software itself.

What a nice place [In reply to] Can't Post

I can see why you love it so much. I feel relaxed just looking at the picture, lol.

Hmmm, I hadn't really thought of wildlife, but I'm sure there are Colorado native plants that would attract bees, butterflies, and birds. I'll put that on the wish list!

Hope your weekend was a good (and cooler) one! Smile

It’s so odd… [In reply to] Can't Post

All I am getting is?‘s and no pictures I have tried to come to TORn many times, but this not secure warning has scared me off. It’s so different from what it used to be. I am not the least bit computer savvy, but I wonder how many other Apple users are getting this same message and stay off because of it.

Yum! [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't know how you both eat so much, lol. I think I gained a pound or two just reading your post.

I'm sure it helps that so much work is involved to just keeping things going and growing. When we travel, I like to experiment making recipes from places we've been, and lentil soup is currently one I'm perfecting (I hope). I'm using red lentils which I just discovered recently, and they make excellent soups and curries.

Hope you get more sunshine this week! Smile

It's Safari [In reply to] Can't Post

..or rather the board software interacting with Safari.

Being married to a retired software developer, I know that whey they develop, and make updates to websites, they cater to the 2 or 3 most popular and most used browsers, the most used fonts, etc. because it's not cost-effective to try to make a site 100% compatible with everything out there on the web.

18-20 years ago, the Gossamer developers probably only had Firefox and Internet Explorer in mind. Compatibility with lesser-used sites (at the time), was more accidental than intended. Add the fact that the software hasn't been updated hardly at all since then, and it becomes less and less compatible with pretty much everything. That's one of the reasons we're searching for new forum software, as these boards aren't even that compatible with the TORn servers any more.

I must say it did [In reply to] Can't Post

all smell delicious at various times. The dry-roasted and freshly ground cumin seeds were a particular highlight.

The crackers were made from discarded sourdough starter. It needs regularly "feeding", and in the process you either use or discard a portion of the starter. I don't make bread often enough to use it all, so it gets discarded. But I came across a recipe for crackers, which is basically some of the starter spread out very thinly on a baking sheet and baked - it gets scored into cracker shapes partway through cooking. Pleasantly crisp and amazingly tasty - you'd swear it had cheese in it. Definitely something I'll be doing again.

Because it's not the sort of whey you get from "real" cheese made using a culture it's no use for ricotta, so I either use it in baking or just feed it to the compost.

The date pudding is now just a happy memory :)

I only talk about the weekends :) [In reply to] Can't Post

We're actually quite abstemious all week - no alcohol at all, and only light meals, with no "extras" like morning teas or sweet treats. But Friday to Sunday we make and enjoy tasty things, and enjoy a glass of wine of an evening. It makes for a good balance.

The soup uses red lentils, and they do give a great result.

Forecast for sunny all week! Fingers crossed.

Thanks! [In reply to] Can't Post

That's not a bad idea. I'm leaning toward no jacket, if only because I have a good feeling that with my luck it will be so hot that the jacket will need to come off anyway. Angelic Thankfully this is not a fancy bunch, so one doesn't need to be walking on eggshells in terms of fashion choices.

Good point! I've caught myself over-watering a few times, in part due to the desire to kill a few minutes by giving the plants some extra attention.

Hope you had a good basement cleaning session!

I do agree with that [In reply to] Can't Post

Sometimes my succulents seem to be going through something based on their appearance, and I can't really tell what it's trying to tell me, almost like a child who can't form words yet but is clearly trying to say something. I'm a bit stubborn in wanting to try to figure it out myself, so I try to feel it out and observe what may need to happen. Thankfully the ones I have on our front porch area seem to be doing quite well and are getting tall, so I guess I'm doing ok!

I've resisted getting more hooked on indoor plants, if only because of the lack of success I've had in previous attempts. But I think I'm due for another try, so perhaps I'll summon the courage when back from the wedding. Smile

Thank you! I'm likely going to try to cobble something together with some clothes I already have.

Busy weekend, busy week! [In reply to] Can't Post

We've had a wonderful cooling of temps for the past several days, but the heat is trying to crawl back in. I did get the lawn completely mowed yesterday and spent the days leading up to that driving daughter and g'son to appts in and out of town. The week starts the same way... actually, the next 2 weeks with demands on each day. So I'll be grabbing any leftover treats on my way out the door :D

Good luck on the bids and the work this week, Altaira! It's hard to call it work when you can enjoy so much of it :D Thanks for taking such great care of us!

Well, actually, Mr. Patty is not up to snuff… [In reply to] Can't Post

We had to take him to the ER a couple of weeks ago where he was found to have heart failure and an aneurysm. He has an appointment with a cardiologist and with a cardiothoracic surgeon coming up. As for me, I am doing well I had just been missing my home site because as I said, I was frightened off by Safari’s message for me not to open this website, which I didn’t understand because I have been using Safari for years and suddenly got all this awful messaging. I’m still not on Facebook so I’m thinking don’t tell me everybody’s gone over there ha ha!

So sorry [In reply to] Can't Post

to hear of Mr. Patty's ailments, I hope they're able to get him on an even keel soon!

I poke onto the TORn Facebook site on occasion to see what they're up to. I don't post on Facebook, even though I have an account - that's just for checking up on my kids (who don't post very often) and checking out local Facebook sites (town emergency, charities).

Nope, we haven't all gone over there, we're still here! Maybe you could try out the Firefox browser?
