How about a contest? Come up with similar reversals that [In reply to] Can't Post

don't reverse.
Maybe like "fish eagle" or "cloud formation."

A reversal that kinda works and one that doesn't: [In reply to] Can't Post

mushroom basket

basket mushroom

There may be mushroom cats, but I have yet to come across a cat mushroom.

Ha! [In reply to] Can't Post

Those *are* mushroom baskets!
There may not be a mushroom cat, or a cat mushroom, but there certainly is a basket cat.

That cat looks like she's been eating magic mushrooms.

"This stomach-dissolving pill works wonders once swallowed" // [In reply to] Can't Post

I think word order is just a fussy thing for English teachers in 8th grade. Smile

Has anyone else noticed in science headlines the last few years, "There's Been Exploding Gut Bacteria in Lab Research Everywhere."

Ah, so that's what / was in the basket!

So I'm curious. How does one decide where the line break goes?

I mean, wouldn't "Ah, so / that's what was in the basket!" work just as well? And so on...

Actors practice and test which words to accentuate in their lines. Maybe that's what it's like.

Well, mostly [In reply to] Can't Post

Wink it's driven, for me, by the fact that long headlines don't work well here. As far as division, it's mostly by feel, and probably based (being a professional violinist) on some vague-Ish idea of what sort of interruption I want to use to affect how something lands or what is noticed more or noticed less. But I don't spend more in a second or two thinking about it, since I don't think I would ever be doing it at all if the headlines would display a whole sentence more easily.

Maybe the next iteration of the boards–hopefully coming soon, since I would think it would help with bot elimination

Heh! [In reply to] Can't Post

I get it–that's to make room for the pill-stomach to take over and function instead of your regular stomach. People will be lining up to try it. Wink

And oh my goodness, that is hysterical! So many wonderful ways to read that: "Exploding guts were everywhere!" Or, "Gut Bacteria Implicated in Mysterious Lab Fires."
