picking up the Hobbit in '72 as a bored 12 year old in a new town. then on to LOTR before seeing the Rankin Bass 'extravaganza'. Somewhere out there my 'go-go-gandalf' button is hiding, as well as the 'frodo LIVES!' pin that I had. Though that's been replaced now with a bumper sticker that says the same.
